Smile Serpent 977e

Hi all

I am looking for a good electric motor and want something that is going to have speed but not get to hot! I am wondering what is the different between a 1900kv motor and a 2650 motor?? Like is it torque or?? I would like something that would run fast on 4s lipo, don't understand why it is said if you go 1900 you can do 3s and if you go from 2100-2650kv you can do 4s??

Cheers

Torque is the difference between the two, on 4s the 2650 would be more ideal.

Cool thanks. So what would be the advantage if you were to have say a Tekin/hobby wing 1900kv running on 3s compared to a 2650kv running on 2s? Would it be more snappy power wise on the 1900 as appose to the 2650kv?

Just trying to understand the hobby more, as i am used to Nitro

Go with the Hobbywing XR8 Pro with Hobbywing G2 2600kv motor on 4s. There's nothing better IMO. I've had several Tekins fail in 1/8 buggy and so wouldn't run them again. The Hobbywing is bullet proof and very fast. 3s isn't really enough for the 977e as it's a heavy car. Also the car wouldn't be balanced because you need either 2x2s packs or you could go to 6s with 2x3s packs and use a 1900kv motor but I'd recommend the 4s setup which is what I run and it's fantastic.

The Tekin 2650 motor is great but heir esc's are poor and I have had two that went up in flames that were replaced under warranty. On 4S you cannot go wrong with the Hobbywing xr8 plus 150A esc paired with either their paired G2 2600 kv motor to run fully sensored. Many over here also run with the 2200 kv motor with different gearing but that is about 80g heavier.

Thanks for the helpful advice guys as I think I will take the advice and go with the 2600kv Hobby Wing on 4s (2x2). Generally I am a brand name person however with everything mentioned i believe the HW is the best option

Question in regards to the 2600kv HB set up. Would i be able to run 6s (2x3), just asking as I already have the 2 3s lipos? Keeping in mind i will put a large pinion and work the gearing.. Or would i be best with 2s??

No. You can run 6s on the 1900kv motor.
