Default F1

Hi all,

After around 15 years of racing TC Nitro's, some of them at National level. I just got my first 1/5th scale rc car about 10 weeks ago. An FG_Comp F1.
I still have yet to even start the engine but I'm loving working on the car.

I also see there are not many around but I also see that this scale is a growing part of the RC community and I hope more tracks broaden their horizons and allow this growing side of RC in.

My thanks have to go to Leisurehours hobbies at Joliet, Illinois for doing just this! Even though they have never let any 1/5th scale race there before, they were more then willing and helpful in track design when I proposed a practice session (Yet to mateialize )

Good to see this thread and all for seperate section for large scale!

I really like F1 racing but all I have is 1/10 and 1/24 scale F1. I would love to have a 1/5 scale F1 one day. This is what I play with when the weather is bad and I cannot run my baja. This is just a little over half my track as I do not have enough room to set it all up inside. Unfortunately it is not 1/5 scale gas.

Super nice venue. One of the best in the country I would say.....

I envy you being 40 mins away!
I am in the Quad Cities over 2 hours away... but at least its close enough to test out my new F1 toy!!

WOW---enjoy your F-1 Comp car!!! Build the setup absolutely STOCK and you'll love the way it handles on GRP A tires all the way around.

If you want to see a good video of F-1's in action at the Nat's--go to GLARCRC.COM and you can see part of the F-1 final with me --Victor and Bob Sarnelle racing!! Good video showing how the cars handle.
FYI
Tim

BTW-- I also have Tamiya 1/10 F-1 cars AND Mini Z F-1 cars too!! Their all fun!!

Tim Neja great FG F1 very sweet. What Tamiya 1/10 F1 do you have? I have the Tamiya F201 but unfortunately it has been discontinued. Then I have a Ofna nitro along with my Mini-zs.

1 to 1 F1 cars are simply amazing. 4 cycle engines of about 150 cubic inches putting out around 900 HP on pump gas turning up to 19,000 RPM no valve springs.

I've got a 201 103- 2 104- 2 and the 3 racing F109. The 103's and 109 are the best handling/fastest. The 104 works good on carpet with rubber tires.
All are FUN!!!
