Default Oval at SoCal

How was the oval racing at SoCal last night? Was there a big enough turn out to warrant a continuing class? Running our Pro-10 Direct Drive (SoCal's description, not mine) sounds like fun. How many cars do we anticipate running the first Tuesday of next month?

Attrition was high thus the entertainment value was also if you know what I mean . SoCal will do it as long as the Oval guys continue to show but they’re legendary for their flakiness/fickleness so we’ll have to see.

We’ve got about 6 “firm” to do our 1st Tuesday in August Oval race.

For those SoCal guys that don’t what we’re referring to, thirdplace came up with the idea of running our roadcourse L2’s on the Oval at SoCal’s next Oval night just for the heck of it.

Since it’s just a one-shot, one-time-only, not gonna happen again (you get the picture), “GTP Oval night”, we’re going to have a few firm rules to keep the cost down and limit our class on that night to only our roadcourse group. We will be separate class from the Oval pan cars. It has to be a roadcourse car (no oval cars with GTP bodies), it has to run 3+3 saddle packs (we’re going to run 6-cell stock – no 4 cell Oval stuff for us and no loading one side of the car up with all the batteries), and you have to use a roadcourse GTP body (although one of those low, low downforce ones Claudio ordered would not only count, it would probably help). And for those that don't like Oval, just look at it like a special Tuesday night roadcourse race with only sweepers...

Oval?
August 1
Ok, I will be there with my roadcourse pan car.

Should be boring, or maybe fun.

It's actually the 1st Tuesday in August which is not August 1st - it's August 3rd.

Let's just say that I'm certain someone will have a great time - whether it's us drivers or the spectators remains to be seen...

Looks pretty cool, isn't it?

I'd like to get a pan car myself, but so hard to find a decent one. And I really don't want to pay retail price for it either.

No, the pic skewers the view of the body - the rear wing is actually a bit smaller than that on the P35. Overall that body has more steering and less drag than a P35 but more downforce than a Dahm's Lowla/Protoform Peugeot.

The HB Toyota body is my personal first choice for about 90% of all situations/tracks.

Kind of a blah day on Ebay for Pan Car stuff:

Alum screw set in Red – should have all we need and more for an L2:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WD1V

EV10 Front end – appears to be new for those that need parts for that car:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

Old Bolink car – body’s probably worth more than the car:

Another Bolink:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...907876083&rd=1

These make good pan car servos – faster and lighter than a standard servo:

Default HPI Front Body Posts

SoCal is carrying the HPI body posts that we use when we cut down the front bumper. There was a debate going last Saturday that SoCal couldn't or wouldn't get them anymore. I bought one set to finish my back up car and one to pay back THIRDPLACE.

Its not that SoCal won't carry the body post anymore its that SoCal might not be able to get them anymore. When SoCal was out of stock they tried to order more and the distributer said that they stopped carrying that part. So unless one of the other distributers carry the body post Socal won't be able to carry them anymore.

RC10L2 problem. I have a shortage of 6917 screws in the kit. Im short two screws. But there are 2 more 6919 screws than there are suppose to be. Has anyone else had this problem? Either its a mistake in the manual or the kit.

nitrous - Probably just a packaging error - that's not unheard of. The only error I know of in the L2 manual involves an extra axle spacer (with the new axle - the one with the blue part on it, you do not need an axle spacer on the RH side of the motor pod) and I've been through that book forwards and backwards. You can just call AE at (714) 850-9342 and they're usually real good about sending missing parts out.
