Default Novarossi REX TR15 Big Block

Does anyone know anything about this engine, or know where I can find the manual for it? RPM Range, etc?

Made for 235mm pan cars like Serpent Impact.Look on the Novarossi website under out of production engines .The Novarossi model should share the same specs .I checked the Nova site. The Novarossi version is the TX15RN 38,000 rpm max power ,practical rpm range is 6,000 - 45,600 rpm's8 port ,uses 16% fuel, bore/stroke is 14.69 x 14.69 hope this helps .You can dveiw/download manual from there site.PM me if you need more info

I have been on their web site for a while but, I can't find any information on this particular engine (TR15 R). I see information on other out of production .15 engines but, not this one.

The TX15R is/was an 8 port engine. The REX engine that I have is only a 3 port engine. Did it make the same power as the Novarossi 8 port version? I was disappointed to see that it was only a 3 port engine. I bought it thinking it was a 7 port engine.

Oh man, why do people think 3 port is bad? the amount of ports is not determing the performance of an engine!

But I see a manufacturer date of 2001, this means the engine is so called EFRA legal by then. Port heights were in that time limited by rules.

So, with the port heights limited (what does that mean?), the engine is not a good performer?

The engine will still perform better than any RTR made engine like Traxxas, Force an STS. But yes, current .12 engines are open so they can even perform better.

And yes, the portheight is determing for a part the performance which can easilly changed.

Also be aware tis is no smallblock engine as current .12 and .15 models.

If this engine is modified, will it out perform the newer 5-port (NS15S5) Novarossi .15 engine? I have two Novarossi NS15S5 .15 Rear Exhaust 5 Port Engines (NVRNS15S5) and they are really fast. If I can modify the Big Block 3-port to be quicker than the Small Block .15, I will keep it. If not, I will try to sell it and get my money back.

If it will outperform can only be seen by giving it a try. I think the REX will give more torque due the bore/stroke differences with the NS15

I think you have to look at the mounting differences. If it is needed into a small block mounting it will be more difficult to mount the REX

Thanks Roelof. I checked the crank timing last night and it's only open for 205 degrees of the rotation, which is common. I'm going to remove .75mm from the opening, and closing, open the exhaust port a little on each side, and a few other things. I will Take pictures of the process and post a video of it running after I finish.

0.75mm???? Thats a lot of timing. But as mentioned before, wil it fit in your car?
