How about almost 6 months late... With all there Mag ads. and videos... :weird: They're a day late and a dollar short... No specs yet??? HP, RPM, torque??? RC-Car-Action did a write up on it Apr 06 and promised a full detailed review with questions true racers have been waiting for answered in there May 06 issue... The whole article was omitted without a hint of a reason why... That's Orion's lost and Ninga, Nova, Sirio, and OS's gain in more market share and profit... I'm sure the motor will be released, but for $280.00... Unless that motor has a run time of 7min in race conditions and putting out over 1.7 legal hp's... Racer's might be alittle :sneaky: /Skeptical... Hey, it's suppose to be the next big thing in 2 stroke RC motor design. The verdict is still out .02... Not a Bash... Just alot of vaperware as in Nitro... :weird:

Karting engines also have different needles, it is just normal to fine tune a real competition engines.

Team Orion website looks like dead also...
|
maybe the ceramic coating they were going to use is not roar legal
|
I heard they are working on a full new site
|
Due to broken promises from team orion, I'll cancel my order on wasp rev engine. Too expensive than grp ninja.
|
I wanna see how fast that toki motor goes :sneaky: .
|
From what I heard from Europe it is outperforming anything on the market today.

From my knowledge, that motor has not been released yet... No published testing specs yet... Orion's forum site looks very quiet... Could there be an issue or issue's with this motor that came up in testing??? This motor might be seen/released during the RCX in May in SoCal... Orion's U.S. headquarters is in SoCal... Oh, RC-CarAction's June edition still had no testing/specs of the Wasp REV motor that they promised 2 months ago... Somethings up... Someone with some sound hard facts should share... Someone??? Anyone??? Goodluck...

It has been seen many time winning on the CRF track !

When I contacted, Rick Hohwart, General Manager of Team Orion earlier this month, he stated that the engines would start shipping at the end of the month - which would translate into some time next week. If production is on schedule, it should be available some time in the first two weeks of May.

I think the wasp rev is considered a turbo type crankshaft from its design. EFRA type crankshaft are non-turbo (no big tear drop openning) like all 3-port novarossi engines compared to 5-port novarossi turbo crankshafts. |

Time to bring in some fresh news in the thread.
Production samples are running (and very well too), as expected lots of power and top speed. Over the week-end the engine took part to it's first race outdoors (Kyosho Cup) and easily won the race with an advance of 2 laps (or about 44 seconds) on the 2nd driver in a 10 minutes final  At the start the CRF driver easily took the lead never to be catched again. A safety pit stop was made at 5 minutes and at the end of the race almost half of the fuel was still there, giving about 9 minutes of run-time on a fuel tank. Pictures of the track http://www.mrcal.ch/Piste_orlons.html |
Would like to see some results from that race, and some pics of the car running or a video, before i am convinced....
|
Here a small video I made yesterday with my mobile phone.
Engine is new and going through it's first tank of fuel so it needs to be driven easy :sneaky: Temp is around 70-80C at the end of the run so there is a lot of room for improvement in power and speed with further carburation settings. http://www.flurl.com/item/WASP_REV_CRF_Engine_u_135350/ PS Enjoy the engine sound! |

Fresh info would be nice.
RC_Alan Stroke=14.00mm The Nitrodyne is up and running again so dyno results will be on Team Orion's site this week (crossing my fingers!). And a surprise driver announcement around the 21st. |

And surely there are independent consumers with dyno capabilites that will post their results. The first numbers will just be what we provide. But to really see the performance advantage, you must compare different engine's dyno charts. This is where the real advantage will be seen. There and on the track. We wanted to release specs earlier, but we felt had to wait until the engine is actually being shipped to consumers. I am confident the wait will be worth it. |

but as you said, if the engine is as good and fast as claimed, it will be seen on the track....... But how fast they are, I don't care, because I have to wait until the .21 size comes out........ :sneaky: |

Thanks for everyone's patience. The guys at Team Orion Europe have concluded the first round of X-dyno tests and will post screen captures of the results/dyno chart in a new thread.
The box stock .12 REV with Team Orion pipe = 1.15 max hp |
Nano, were you using the stock R40 gears or the LW? I'm judging LW because of the upper deck on the R40. What LW gears pinions did you use?

Currently I run 15/47 and 19/43, so about 7.6 and 5.5 ratio. Remember that you need a proper clucth setup too -> hard spring, the original one is way too soft. It seems that the stock RRR spring and Kyosho 1/8scale red spring are ok. |
Then the harder the spring the better correct?

Rick,
Let me start off by saying that I picked up one of you new waps engines a few weeks ago and and am very pleased with its performance. I would go so far to say that it is the only rc motor I have owned that lives up to advertising. Currently I am experiencing what I would consider a severe problem, I am hoping you can help me with. This past weekend my glow plug failed I am unable to locate a replacement. I had my LHS place the #6 & #7 plugs on back order through Great Planes & Horizon 3 weeks ago but they have not shown up and without one I can't race the motor. Is there anywhere I can buy one now, and if not when will they be available. Mark |
