I just got my OS TZP and finished up the break-in process. I real happy with it. I can wait to see how it handles out on the track with everybody else.

I have to say that the more I use this motor, the more I am impressed.

So far so good with the reliability and durability of the engine. It has had a total of seven and a half litres of fuel through it and it still has a slight pinch at TDC with the plug out, even when hot.

The only thing I have noticed is that if the performance goes off a little bit, a new glow plug brings it back to life.

For such a cost effective engine to be as good as this is astounding!

Over the weekend in a local club race, someone with this engine was able to out accelerate an IDM engine! Kudos to OS for producing such an engine at an affordable price!

Btw, how many shims are you guys using for this engine? And what's the LSN and HSN needle setting?

Rgds

If your running 30% nitro you will need to add one copper shim to the engine or you will get pre detonation.

We are having problems with this engine...... i think its just the tune up or the pipe...... dont know ?? quits all the time.

Trying a new kyosho pipe tommorrow...... efra one piece... kyosho pipe. How does this perform with this OS engine.

I've just finished my breakin and I have to say that is the must engine, easy to tune, reliable, and is on par with the best italian mills at lower price, mine runs at 200F and is ballistic, what is remarkable is the price for parts, 40 p&s and 20 the conrod!

nsxshogun 06-20-2005 12:11 PM

Hmmm parts are cheap just like the sts motors.

I think the engine has 0.5 mm of shimming. So you mean to add on another .2mm?

Hi friend,

Got your engine already, finally. Run in already?

I think the engine comes with 0.3mm shims. Unless I measured wrongly...

Ran my engine in Atria race last weekend. It was pretty fast. After the whole race, still got plenty of compression and feels like new. No diff when compared to before race. Will strip it to check internals this weekend.
Let us know how your engine performs... :)

Cheers...

I have seen faster motor, but usually not with a $200 price tag, this 12 TZ does impress me (compare to their 12 TR before) a HUGH step ahead.

I have a T5. Once breaking in, this engine is very reliable. Starts easily everytime.

What is a good plug to use with this engine? My engine runs at about 210F. Is the temp ok? thx.

k_brian 06-22-2005 09:03 AM

i am running p6 hot plug. Works fine :D

ziggy12345 06-22-2005 11:24 AM

Is the OS engine legal for the BRCA? Does anybody have a pic of the crank? What is the crank bore size?

Thanks

gijoe64 06-22-2005 11:52 AM

Tower has just droped the price of the .12TZ engines to 229.99
