If you look at tower site.....there are 2 12 TZ listed...one is $219 and the other is $250.........the $250 one, they said it is a combo package, but that might be changed once they realized the pipe alone is $99.00 (It is not the 1st time tower screw up the price, one time, a Tamiya 415 MS version is listed $299.99 only....I ordered 4 of those and they send me a email saying they don't stock that car anymore, because the price was wrong...)

The $219 is engine alone, but I think they price will be lowered once they actually get the engine in stock....but I am talking about 1-2 months AFTER.........not like in few weeks, cause they will use that few weeks to test the market for $219.00.

Overall, the Futaba store price are very good.........

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to say OS is better than Rody. All I was trying to point out was that the performance of the OS in my G4 showed it could keep pace and get past a little compared to the cars that were running the Rody.

The Rody cars were a 710 and an MTX-3. I couldn't tell you if our final drives were even close. As everyone knows gearing plays a big part in the success of a car/engine combination. Maybe if I geared down to where they run, it wouldn't have looked as impressive.

No flame war was intended, was merely explaining my experience from the first race meeting with the OS.

If you love the Rody that's fine. I can't tell you if I love OS yet as only time will tell if it keeps it's performance and lasts reliably.

Mike.

There are several .12 TZ's listed on tower, here are links with prices,

OS .12 TZ Turbo, OS P/N 11370 $219.99

OS .12 TZ (P)-T 5 port Turbo, OS P/N 11375 $249.99

OS .12 TZ (P)-T-3 Port Turbo, OS P/N 11373 $249.99

OS .12 TZ (S)-T Turbo, OS P/N 11371 $249.99

Not much other info on Towers site on these engines yet.It doesn't say anything about there being pipes with any of these engines.

I do not undertand how the three and five port engines are the same price.

What I do see are four engines and four different HP ratings.:weird:

P/N 11373 is the one I received the quote on from Futaba Pro Shop.

Naw no flame wars. Just a like joke. I always check out what gearing the other guys are using at my track and other mods. For the most part even a regular RS12 is pretty good enough for my track. However, people still go for the engines that offer more acceleration. I only got the Rody since I couldn't wait for the OS .12 TZ. LOL:D

Something intresting is the O.S. .12 TR (P)-T R-Spec that was dyno testedin the Feb 05 issue of RC Driver is discontinued (at Tower at least), I guess the TZ is replacing it.

jt6 05-06-2005 08:42 PM

I think I saw that the regular TR is being discontinued also.

Well all I see are 2 pics & one has a short shaft & the other has the same shaft my RC10GT engine has (or at least it looks like it.

Where are you seeing HP ratings??

combo package? with that inline system? since I'm about to get that engine along with a pipe seems a bargain price. hopefully!

I received the tower dealer list....it is not suppose to be public untill TOWER notice....but Tower can change anytime or anyway that they want, so I think letting you guys know does not make any different.

Again, I cannot confirm the combo package yet, cause Tower does not know 1/2 of thier things that they are selling. I am confident that Tower will have a 12TZ combo (mostlly 3P with pipe) listed on their site, but I can garantee it will not be $250....more like $299.

Solara 05-07-2005 10:58 AM

Don't forget, it might be rotary carb, standard crank or something similar...
