Best Modified Engine!

withall of them but a series championship is coming in May over my track so I´ve decided that a modified engine just to those series is a must, but which one? main concerns are longevity, performance, price and repairing costs of the engine once worn the sleeve.
options. could be any big modifieds such as rb, max, jp, collari, sirio wc, mega, etc and small as palmaris, murnan, fusion, etc the murnan evo 2 is temping me but I´d like to wait for the sirio wc or the mega
suggestions. track is medium size with a 55 meters straigh and very technical on the inside with lots os small sweepers and chicanes..it will be run with 20 nitro.

jkeeton 01-13-2005 11:51 AM

You should check out Maxy Modified's, Maxy knows his way around RB, Mega's any nova or picco based engine, his engines are very fast and reliable.. If fact Hara won last years nats running a Maxy Modified.

There´s only one model that apperas on his page, a novamega, which makes it a tough choice since it is a discontinued model and will be hard to find replacement.

Murnan's engines will run strong long after you series....check him out

GregH 01-24-2005 06:21 AM

never lift 01-24-2005 11:38 AM

ed is a great guy he runs at my local track

Seisick 01-26-2005 05:46 PM

it better be a top choice, I´ve just seen some max, and jps and at 20 nitro have lower performance than at 30, specially compared to my stock evo2 legal.

Hi Seisick

The problem with highly moded engines is that if you don't specify what is it what you are looking for, they can dissapoint you.
For example if your track is small and technical you need an engine with lots of low end and midrange. If your track is wide open and with long main straight, you need an engine with tons of high end, sacrificing some low end power.
So when ordering a custom moded engine you have to ask what part of the power band has the tuner enhanced, and which one do you need.
Sometimes a bare stock engine will be faster on a small track than a modified engine. Be carefull.

not true lol you get a dynoed chart with each engine you get from emod and it shows you what the stock engine did through each rpm range and compares it to the mod, its much better thrugh the whole range, well thats at least from e mod as for the others who knows u might be right but not for e mods if any one is intrested i could post eds web page

mgtman 01-27-2005 06:16 AM

try www.ebmod.com the best to my knowledge so far

mgtman 01-27-2005 06:20 AM

Well, then it's true what I'm saying. I wasn't speaking specifically about e mods, but I hold as true that If you don't know what the modder has done to your engine, you could be dissapointed.

As per e mods, that is the serious way to offer moded engines, with proven dyno figures.

mgtman 01-27-2005 08:36 AM

i agree if you dont know you are right seen a whole buch get disssapointed not with his though we had a whole bunch all apt and compared big diff

rod_b 01-27-2005 08:49 AM

I've heard EB mod's run really well. I'm curious though...he dyno's them when they're not completely broken in yet?

mgtman 01-27-2005 08:58 AM

absolutelly and i seen them only get faster

GregH 01-27-2005 09:00 AM

from what he tells me, he heat cycles the engines before he dyno's them. He also heat cycles the modded engines before you get them. This way it's ready to tune and race and he know's it's done properly.
He does great work. I was offered to come up and hang out a number of occasions but he's 3hrs away from me. I'll make it up one day.

mgtman 01-27-2005 09:06 AM

yup ready to go he rules

I like this following sentence from ebmods web site:
"Only a select few actually do R&D on engines before releasing them. Jim Hottinger, Steve O'Donnell , JP Racing , Andy Brown , Dennis Ritchie , Rody Roem, Rich Reid , and myself are the only ones I can actually say have some sort of testing routine in place."
:weird: :weird: :weird:
:D :D :D
I didn't know that only 8 guys in whole world are doing some sort of real testing. No Andrea Rossi, no Michael Salven, no Massimo Fantini, no Alberto Picco, no 100s other guys-nobody!!!!

jfc_tech 01-27-2005 06:30 PM

  :weird: :weird:
thats a serious claim
i know my Massimo Fantini engine is better than others at my track...good enough. Just my hand the problem   :D

mgtman, I think you misunderstood jfc_tech... He was referring to his NovaMax .12 P5 engine. Nothing to do about the .21 Novarossi P5 buggy engine.

mgtman 01-28-2005 07:52 AM

Please read Macroos post above
I don't modify, if I see something not right ( according to my theory), I just simple make new from scratch ( regardles what it is-piston, sleeve, conrod, cranckshaft, whole motor-just about everything). Making new means making not moddifying.

mgtman 01-28-2005 09:56 AM

shooot thats awosome dam make your own from scratch now thats no joke congrats thats got to kick azz keep up the good work who knows maybe we will see your masterpices on the shelves soon good luck

nice buggy...i 'd driven it twice with the 8 port original engine...but got beaten by the OS VZB V spec
The only Nova sold here is the TOP 421B..team only by Jim Hottinger...ok, his name is listed there
planning to get that one if its still available  (buggy race is gaining popularity here again)

im not into buggy...yet, but yes my .12 NovaMax MF P5 is good enough for any challenge to other engine...(as if someone had asked    )
