Well, what can I say!!!?!!

What a superb performance. Good driving, good speed, good air, awesome setup thus the nice handling.

I've seen some impressive MT's - your's is definitely up there with the best of them.

Nice one!

Racernine (Glen) does all the setup to the truck, we use a shorter chassis than a standard mammoth to get better handling in the turns, also we feel the 8 shock setup that comes on the mammoth is much better than the 4 shock setup on other truggies. We can and have blown a shock and still finished races while when other loose a shock they are done. If you go to our site www.racernine.com and follow the outlaw links you can see how this truck is put together almost step by step

I sure wish we had a big STS black and orange sticker to put on the hood.
hint hint

super sts.28

Just got this motor broke in ,this thing is insane power ,super easy tuneing .Just need to pull apart now, and clean the oneway bearing .with such rich setting it over lubs the bearing .still haven't had anyone seem to know about the block being black instead of the silver. What color is anyone else's block just wondering.

8man 10-21-2005 11:19 PM

The block on the marine 28 is shown black on the STS website.
Are they all going to be black now?

ryan6682 10-22-2005 02:52 AM

all the latest ones I have seen are all black

carlk 10-24-2005 08:35 AM

Hi, I recently purchased an STS .28 and it was all black as well. I think it looks better too.

Just got in some new .28 motors and now they are silver again with black cooling head only the cooling head looks a bit different with a .28m written on it and seems to be a bit bigger.
Is this how they are going to be from now on or will the color of the block change to black again.
Dino. share some info on this if you can.

Now you get it's final version. We have ever produced 400pcs black crankcase. Now they are sold out already. For saving cost we changed back to silver color. We have to keep the cost lower, let more people can enjoy the R/C.

have any of you guys seen this ad on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/STS-28-Pull-Star...QQcmdZViewItem

this is really upsets me as they took the pics off our website and used them in thier ebay ad. We dont mind that they say the sts.28 won the trophies as we want the world to know how great these motors are but to use our pics without asking seems pretty low.

dino.tw 11-01-2005 03:24 AM

Give them a mail...

Horatio 11-03-2005 08:14 AM

It's a bit cheeky - using your pictures and then competing with you in the open market place/ebay etc!!

You gotta laugh really!!

They are awesome pics though and they really help get the right image across thus making the product easier to sell. They were probably assuming you'ld never notice, so didn't bother asking for your permission or drawing your attention unnecessarily.

But it appears that they've just been rumbled!

ryan6682 11-04-2005 04:57 AM

Glen (R9) has rearranged the web site. If you havent seen his vids they are all on one page now check them out.

 Yep~ Brian need to watermark his dyno results, too.

ryan6682 11-04-2005 07:38 PM

the dyno results are pretty impressive I like the fact that the sts has more power than the RB.28 motor for half the price. Our original race motor finally gave out after about 7 gals of fuel and being tortured at 400 degrees several times. The pin on the crank snapped off probably due to the piston getting loose in the sleeve and binding. Very nice motor we are more than happy with it's performance. It did get us 2 championship trophies this year.
We are now breaking in a new one and rebuilding the front end of the outlaw and will be using it sparingly till the end of March, We are planning on racing in the Silverstate challenge in Las Vegas against all the bigtime pros. Our hope is to make it to the Amain.

Dino you ought to take a buisness trip to Vegas for the race. Would be cool to meet you.

Hey ryan6682 what do you have your carb settings set to,and your temp,my L is about 4, H is little under 2,but is a little sluggish on low end,iv'e leaned, and richened low,but still sluggish on bottom end, lean high end but not less then 1 1/2 turns, wakes up good but temp is about 270,280, i live in maine it's about 50 temp outside.temp is just to high to keep it set to that

It sounds like your low is too rich and your high is to lean. try leaning your lowend needle 1/2 turn and then backing out your high end till it runs really rich and then slowly retuning the high needle till you get good power and then see if the temps dont drop and you have better bottom end power.
My carb settings are irrealavent as I live in a totally different climate and altitude than you. After you get your high set you may need to lean your low needle a little more for good take off transition.

scramblingmaxx 11-05-2005 09:42 PM

I have it set some ware as dino say's on page 2,if H is set to rich the motor never reaches any power at about 2 turns out,L if lean 3 1/2 turns starves on fuel ,what temps do you have thou.

ryan6682 11-06-2005 05:13 AM

250 to 230 , look for an airleak Is the motor new? how much breakin?

scramblingmaxx 11-06-2005 04:56 PM

I have 1 gallon thru it now . could be a air leak ii'l try to seal it up ,i need to pull apart and clean the oneway, any way's.air could be the problem seemed good after breakin had insane power .just seem's a little weak on low end now

scramblingmaxx 11-11-2005 04:33 PM

under head button

Hey ryan, do have the under head button ,i didn't see it on your site, i was looking for it to mod, so i could use one of the wakefly heads ,used one on my hpi drop 50 degrees, there made of 7075 almost scratch proof ,looking to go with roto start also. my blisters are still sore :( You have the best prices going ,GOOD JOB.

you have a pm

spenzalii 11-21-2005 12:16 PM

OK, huys, now I'm confused. I probably will go on and take the plunge and get this STS 28, since for the money the performance supposedly can't be beat. I see they have a rotostart backplate for the engine, but I need to know if it will work on a Savage before I waste my money on it.

ryan6682 11-21-2005 06:09 PM

Yes the roto start will work on your savage but you will have to do some dremel work on your rear bulkhead brace to get the wand into the motor.

there are pics of what needs done in this thread on savage central. you may have to register to view it. lots of good info on there as well about the .28
http://www.savage-central.com/module...topic&p=395287

spenzalii 11-23-2005 08:00 AM

Thanks for the info. I'll look thru the thread and see if I can find pics of the modification. While I like the power the Picco .26 puts out, I hate it's refusal to stay tuned and it's inability to reliably start.

Tabushi 12-03-2005 04:01 AM

Hi all ...

Any experience with the .28 being installed on a Tamiya TNX Pro !? ... or the .28 engine its just too much for it and i have to go for the .21 ?

thanks,

Pat

ryan6682 12-03-2005 03:50 PM

the .28 should fit anywhere a bigblock.21 fits the length and width is the same Sorry I cant say wether the drivetrain will handle it or not.

qwerty 12-04-2005 01:10 AM

 hi. is there a sts.28 in non pull start version? :tire:

ryan6682 12-04-2005 07:41 AM

you can get a backplate for the .28 motor to make it non pullstart.

I know that two of our customers are using the .28 in the jammin truggy and are very happy with performance. I dont know all the details except that they have told me they really like the motor.

ozpall 01-25-2006 05:06 PM

hey savage users with sts:
I just ordered a sts 28 and i was wondering if you are braking parts like crazy?
stripping gears? diff cases? spider gears?etc.
my savage is set up with the 4 spider gear mod, but don't know what else to watch for? tranny? shafts?
thanks.

Edgar Millenium 01-25-2006 06:43 PM
