come to think of it, 5 supposed to be faster than 3 on the straight, but it isn't!

Depends on too many factors. Head clearance, nitro %, pipe and pipe length, timing, length of the straight etc.

With the correct set up a 3-port will match any 5-port for power. Technically, any engine only has 3 main ports and an exhaust port. What the manufacturers refer to as a 5/7/8 port etc engine is just taking the 3 main ports and splitting them up to direct the flow of the mixture as they want it to maximise the efficiency of the engine. This does increase the performance of the engine but only if the straight is substantially long.

Those are the old series X12 RB engines, that's why you won't find info on their web site. They've been replaced by the new V12 series. They were equivalent to the old RS12 series of Novarossi engines. What I can't remember specifically is what the 340 engine was. I had a 310 RB and it was a 5 port turbo engine, and I think the 340 was a Rody tuned engine, but i don't know if it was 3 or 5 port turbo or non turbo.
If somebody is offering you one, ask him if it is 3 or 5 port and if it has a black crankcase, if does than it is a Rody tuned version, great engine.........very fast.

leave him alone man. Some people have english as a second language. You know how bad I talk.

I won't be coming to crystal tommorow. No ride. My dad is going to work, and that is more important than going to crystal park.

compaqboy, how much did you pay for your v12? saw it listed on ebay for about $180. Is that a good price? I'm thinking of retiring my Rody, since it's too slow compare to yours. lemme know.

compaq888 09-13-2004 04:50 PM

I overpaid for mine. I got it for $215. I hear you can get the turbo for $210 at some places. Check elite hobby shop.

eddiethefish 09-13-2004 04:58 PM

Is it better to get the turbo one then?

I have the non turbo. I have been told it will run like the turbo if you gear it diffrent. There is even a guy running the non turbo at crystal at 40% fuel.

Personally It doesn't matter if i have the turbo or not, I just come to crystal to practice.
