hey guys does anyone know if this is a good engine JP FXTO3 .12
Thanks for your time. |
Yes the jp fx.12 t03t is a very hard engine to find due to the fact that it is outy of production but it is still one of the fastest .12 on the market it is not that much slower than the eagle tl3t .12 crazy topend. I would snatch it up right away get buy.:)

Thats very good to hear!! What if I need parts for it since its out of production......:tire:
Its a used engine on a mtx4 I bought. Supposedly it was raced at the IFMAR Worlds in 2006. I'm under the impretion its been well cared for. Do I have a chance of rebuilding it if needed? |

Thanks I just checked on them. I'm looking at a little under $200.00 for the piston and sleave when needed. Does that sound right....
Are the other parts available then?? |
The JP P3L black how can be compared with the RB R3??
|
the rb r3 has more bottomend and midrange but the jp has a tick more topend and it gets better gas mileage but for the price i would go with the jp firstline p3l great buy but the rb r3 is the better engine but hard to get parts for now that rb usa is no more.:)

Hi guys. I am very glad there is a thread and so many knowledgable folks on this engine
Anyway. I have a used FX-21 5N off-road engine. It still has great pinch and does not seem to leak anywhere. I was chasing a tune today but when I got home I saw that my needle settings were way off the factory, so I am not too worried. I wanted to ask, what is a good plug for these? It currently has a nova 7. Also, how many shims should it have? I took apart the top and saw that it had absolutely no shims... I checked the JP site and saw it has several listed.. How many/thickness should I be running with 20% (byron) fuel? Could lack of shims be why I was chasing tune? Do I need specific JP/Nova shims or could others work as long as thickness is same? Also, I attached a picture, does it look like its been running lean or does that look about right? Yeah, newbie question... :D Thank you! |
Your head shims should be 0.70 for 20% byrons, take a digital caliper and measure all shims together and thats what you should have, as far as the plug i found the best results with the Nova #5 hot and OS P3 ..

The pic looks a bit lean, or at least a bit dry. It should still have a little oil, but you can see whats in the pics. Make sure your shims aren't stuck to the button. It should have two 0.30mm aluminum shims and one 0.10mm copper=0.70mm total spacing. I would recommend 25-30% fuel, which should work fine with the shimming I stated on a broken in engine. Base carb setting new is around 5 turns out LSN & 3 turns out HSN. Broken in, around 2.5 HSN out and 2-3/4 to 3-1/4 out LSN. This setting should, but you still have to tune it. Glow plugs used are #6 or even a #5 if its humid and hot and you need to richen the LSN more and have a good idle.
To my surprise, no, it did not have any shims. They are not stuck anywhere, they are just not there, old owned probably took them out for some reason. Does the increased compression actually give it more power or just mess with things? |
