Yeah. I noticed that when I looked at the pic later on, I stripped it down today to take a look at the mods,

Here's a quick report on my new Stock FX12 T03. Wow is all I have to say. I ran two tanks through the car on the bench, warming it up to about 200*, letting it cool each time with the piston at BDC. Then i put it on the track and ran about 6 tanks, leaning it 1/8th after the first 3 tanks (didn't want to really lean it) and letting it cool each time at BDC. I didn't give it full throttle until the 5th and 6th tanks and WOW what an Engine. The engine never got above 215 and it was absolutely flying. It has monster bottom end and of course blistering top end. It sound like it reaches high rpm's VERY fast. I haven't even started playing with different plugs yet either. I was amazed. I had a guy with a Maxy Modified X12 Turbo out there and I had no problem keeping up with him. The track was loose yesterday so we couldn't do a true head to head test, but I like what I saw. I was a little worried that maybe I should have stretched the wallet and gone for the mod version, yes I've seen it in action, but I'm very happy with this "Stock" Engine (I put it in quotes because it's so damn fast.) Anyone considering an X12 or NSR12 Should definitely consider this engine. Can't wait till my next race!:D :D :D

DAMN....I jinxed myself. Not half hour after I wrote my last post, I ran the engine and the red silicone used inside the crankshaft has come off. Nothing else seems to have been damaged as It happened at slow speed, but DAMN...engine will be out of commission and I haven't even raced it. Let's see how JP fixes this issue for me.

has anyone taken one of these apart and seen what the crank weighs. i was just interested to know how much weight they are taking off of the crank. i measured my ns3 crank and it weighs 28 grams?

I have had my 1st race with my new FX 12 T-03 S, as well, and what I had planned to write was almost exactly what gonzoY5 has posted. 'Cept I ran mine on the bench for 4 tanks, and then put it on the track and started leaning it a little, keeping it rich and the revs down.
1st heat, went great till the 2nd gear stripped. 2nd heat, same story, and I shortened the shift point so it'd go to 2nd sooner. Sucker's getting stronger each run, but I'm kept the temps at 218, and didn't hurry leaning it any further. I had put 15x48 1st gear, and 20x42 2nd, so it wouldn't rev to high. About 5 mins into the A main, the thing just "woke up", where it had been revving to, say 25,000, and it started revving to say, 35-40,000. I was running with Uriah Murnan, he had one of his Murnan Modified engines, and I could close on him down the straight.
This was the most $ I've spent on a 12, and it's the best $ I've spent this year!

Result ?.... 1st place A main.:D :D  :D :D

red 5 the reason you are stripping 2nd gear is cause you have a 5 tooth split on the pinions and a 4 tooth split on the spurs if the info in your post is correct. that will definatly cause it.

Bottom line: the engine woke up after how many tanks exactly?

theRED5 07-18-2004 10:57 PM

Yeah, I thought that may have been the problem, too, I went to 20x43, and made it shift earlier, no problems after that.

Bandeira, I would say, 10 tanks...maybe 13.

GrandeGixxer 07-19-2004 12:30 AM

you have to have the same tooth split between 1st and 2nd or the gears will not mesh right. bottom line. if you are 1 off it will work for a little while and then you will strip a gear.

anyways congrats on the A main victory.

theRED5 and Bandeira

What manifold and tune pipe are you using, type of fuel and how were the run times per tank of fuel.

Funny, I don't remember you closing on me down the straight. How many laps did you get during qualifying? Me? There is a lot more to going fast on a racetrack than top speed, personally I would much rather be fast in the infield than the straights. Congrats on the win Chuck.;)

gonzoY5 07-19-2004 12:21 PM

Grinder you have PM

theRED5 07-19-2004 05:53 PM

Same old story, you can't remember....I moved over to let you through going onto the short chute before the straight, then I was maybe 10 feet behind you thru the sweeper, and tapped you at the end of the straight. But that's okay, it'll get better.;) yeah, you were faster, but I was breaking-in an engine, I was just trying to go around the track, you were trying to beat Arun's lap record times. You have to admit, the engine is FULL of potential.

I'm running a RDLogics Turbo II (KLR ver) one piece pipe and header.
