Cool. Didn't know that.

If I recall, they were a few types that Permatex makes. I found it hard to make the ramp smooth like the one on the JP/Max crank. Most will come out like they were toothpaste quality. I think the RTV should be of thick and fluid type. Is there anything that needs to be done to the RTV so that it makes it easy to apply?

Do you think that if you got the crank heated up that it would help it settle to a better shape?

You could use kerosene to "tool' the RTV to shape or maybe cover with plastic wrap and form the shape with your finger, removing the wrap when it's cured.
I'd expect you want the inside of the crank absolutely clean and grease free to ensure the best adhesion before you start.

Anyway, probably stefan will have the procedure down to a fine art. ;)

use the self leveling version of the rtv instead of the one in paste form. the finish is smooth and shinny when done correctly.

Texas Biggie

Hey Brad,

Good luck to you at the Biggie !
I hope you have a GREAT Weekend !

Hey Brad are you running one of the new engines? Are you coming out for the O"Donnell race at REV?

Hey Dennis-Are you going to have any motors that I could run for you at the O'Donnell race? It will be a pretty good test in the heat. This is Steve Chamberlain. I ran your practice motor at the Airtronics race. It was awsome and I would like to run your stuff.
PM me or E-mail me.

Thanks
Steve Chamberlain

I had a great time and met some cool people. Lots of fun. Track was very tricky because it was really bumpy yet had alot of bite in the slow stuff. I just ran sedan and I knocked the steering tir-rod off on the second lap costing me about 4 minutes to fix because it was the inside one on the servo saver, so I just rode around and finished 6th.
Can not wait to go back again. See ya at the O'Donnell Race!
Late,
Brad!

Will it be a box stock version? I'll be there. Look forward to checking it out.
