I have a P5X and it is a two needle carb. He posted that he has a P5TX which is the turbo version are you saying this is a three needle carb?

Ok Salvadori I have shims, but they are RB shims. I'll put them on and I now have the Byrons fuel. This sucka smells really strong, but the smell outta the exhaust is like fresh cookies out of the oven. . I can't wait to drive them now after I finish installing the rest of items on my car. Thnx again.

Ok so I opened up my TOp engine to find two RB shims already in there. Now what? Again I'll be running 30%. SOMEONE HELP! Gotta run to the track before it rains today.

If you're suffering from detonation, and have now two 0.1 shims, could be caused by the humidity on the air (where you race? there's fog or near a river?). Which plug you're using? #6, #7 Tc or Tf? Which temps, which fuel? if you suffer from detonation, you may not solve it enrichening the HSN - is a matter of compression, and water particles on the air, plays their role here.

My suggestions: for a 30%, go for a #7Tc (Hot), check the size of your chamber (if you run at sea level with a 30% nitro, go at least for a 0.021" chamber height).

I never said I was suffering from detonation. I'm just switching from 20% to 30%. So, should I just run it and see what happens or add just one more shim to be sure?

Can you measure the two shims? With out knowing what they measure everybody is pretty much guessing on what you should do. Most Nova based engines are set to run 25% fuel from the factory. They are usually setup with one shim @ .20mm and one @.10mm. To be safe most engine manufacturs recomend adding a .10mm shim to run 30%. Some people don't make this change and have no problems. But usually the ones that do this know what to look for if there is a problem. Sounds to me like you are just getting started in this hobby. If this is the case and if the two shims that are in you engine now do measure a total of .30mm I would recomend you add the .10mm shim just to be safe or run 25% fuel.

Hope this helps

I'm not just getting started in this Hobby. I never ran 30% before that's all. I already have a gallon of 30% so it doesn't make sense to go spend more $$ to buy more fuel lol. Thanks for the info though.
