I was in my lhs and he has the NovaMega 12XS SS engine. He said it's the same as an NS12 but costs less. Is that correct?

stefan 02-01-2004 09:07 AM

Yes, just like the RB V12

How much is he asking?

rod_b 02-01-2004 05:40 PM

$220 for the 3 port and $230 for the 5 port. Is it worth it? So you're saying the V12 also uses the same crank and piston and sleeve that the NS12 does?

Also, does anyone know the sizes for the NS12 bearings or if anyone makes ceramic or heavy duty bearings for this engine?

Thanks

Boca Bearings have the 11.5x21x5 and 7x17x5 bearings in ceramic.

Conrod for RS12?

Will any Novarossi .12 conrod fit? I saw that www.rc-mushroom.com has a conrod that says its for all .12 engines. Is this correct?

Rod the only thing the two have in common is the diameter of the crank and the rod. The profile of the NS crank and the V12 are significantly different. The NS also has the billet piston, and corkbond finished liner and the V12 does not. The parts will intermix but they are definatly different in the area of performance.

DR, I thought the NSR was the one that using billet material instead NS is it ?

Motorman 02-06-2004 09:26 PM

funny you ask that because I am slightly miffed at novarossi's current lettering system, I thought the R was a rotary carb version but I could be wrong. However I think I can saftly say that if it is an NS version it has the billet piston. I used to have a very good handle on it all but its gettin a little fuzzy now that i'm not into new customer motors every day.

Oddly enouth the NS's we get here are marked
NS12S3-A1
