would 10% synthetic oil, 2% castor and 16% nitro be a good mixture. I am using coolpower for the synthetic oil

A few guys here in Edmonton, Alberta bought S421B engines for our buggies but are having a bitch of a time keeping the motors running. They seem fine for the first 5 minutes and then flame out at idle. We are running 30% race blend from Sidewinder (10% oil) but it doesn't really seem to matter what percentage of nitro is used...motor does the same thing. Had a couple of guys playing with head shims...bumping up 1mm-2mm for the high nitro content but nothing seems to work.

Is this motor a dud or does someone have some tuning magic for this mill?
Thanks,
John Hughes

A little more oil is goin to make engine life longer..
alot of the manufactors are saying to use 16% oil content..I like a 14% synthetic/castor blend... no more than 4% castors more like 3%

Byrons fuel is 11% oil. It is good stuff. Anything over that unless you are just bashing is just going to be a waste of power. It is going to go out the pipe.

Motors were borke in with 5 heat cycles in car, on the bench. Took them up to 200 deg. at 1/8 throttle and shut down to cool...repeated 4 more times and then started to run the car and lean the top to peak performance over one more tank.

Pull the plug out and see if it still locks up or drags at the top of the cylinder... how much fuel has run across it?

I think your right the extra oil does take a little power away!!

With the plug in there is compresion, but not so much that the motor wont turn over by hand on the fly wheel. Without the plug the motor turns freely with a slight pause/catch at TDC. The motor has seen maybe 3/4 of a gallon to 1 gallon.

I have a Novarossi cx12ps1/n with a standard button head. I need to know if its possible to install a Turbo button from from the novarossi NS12S, into the cx12. Both have the same stroke and bore. Only differnce btwn these 2 motors is one is side exhaust and the other is rear exhaust.

os turbo plugs in nova ns12s3

hey guys
just wanted to know if you can use the os turbo plugs in the novarossi ns12s3 turbo ?

thanks
John

plug

i tried an os plug on a novarossi button once and it messed the threads up,and caused some burring at the top of the button .i think the treads are alittle different . now i tried an os on my mega serpent zx-12 and that worked. best bet is to use the same plug with the same brand motor :)
