Thanks for your help on this.

Has anyone run REX Legend 7 or 9? How does it compare to say OS R2101?

The OS has more torque and it doesn't rev as high as the Novarossi based engines.

The OS can pull a few teeth taller in terms of gearing because of the increased torque to gain the top end back, but still have a brutal bottom end and mid range.

The Novarossi most likely produces a greater peak HP at maximum revs, but the power delivery is more progressive until that point.

They're so different to drive it's hard to say which is better, they're both competitive engines.

James.

Go with the Rex 7 port or the Nova 7 port and never look back!!! Trust me, they are awesome engines!!! Power is insane!!!

How is the Hardito? Want something for messing around in a big heavy 1/7 Ofna DM-1, and probably a buggy for on-road as well...

With Novarossi .21 engines a fresh crankpin is 4.98mm and a fresh conrod has a 5.00mm hole. It is meassureable with a digital caliper. And measure on several positions arround because the wear is not equal round.

Sorry, not sure if you got what I meant.
Instead of changing to a new rod, I changed to a brand new crank I had sitting around. It took the play away from in the crank. Should I also change the rod?

The play as the hole in the conrod will get larger as you run the engine. That, I get it. But what does changing crankpin have to do with changing conrod directly? Don't we change the conrod because we're afraid that it might break as it wears? Not necessarily because the hole enlarges?
I'm just asking you guys about correlation between end of rod's life and hole size. If the play is larger, then obviously there will be more stress on the rod as it moves up and down but is that the whole reason why the rod breaks?

If I install Bonito 7port sleeve into keep on crankcase, would that work? The port config is same as Keep on sleeve but 2 less ports. The main port to the rear exhaust in the Bonito sleeve is a bit smaller than Keep On's. The rest is original keep on parts. I've always been afraid of making Frankenstein motors but I figured I might as well try that combo cuz otherwise not really worth keeping them separately.

The crankpin does wear off also. If the play becomes too much then the head clearance does become smaller with the risk of blowing glowplugs. But the play will also give more banging of the crankpin on the rod causing more wear and weakness in the material.

A Bonito has a lower port timing than a keep on so you will not get the same performance. And it is wise to check the head clearance. But yes, it can be done.
