we have used o'donnell plugs they were cheap and the white dose not fall out and wreck your engine but i is a personal thing we got heaps when they were about $4.oz each and they are hard to get now can run for a lot of race events

the 35 Plus has been around for a while the flash was last years new engine the keep on was this years new engine No idea why the keep on is cheaper, normally it is the other way around. Maybe amain bought a big batch of keep on's for a low price. Maybe the keep on is more difficult to sell because it has a very special and expensive main bearing. Maybe the flash is getting rare and price goes up because people are still looking for it. Just my thoughts :-) |

The flash is already for serveral years on the market but they have changed it from time to time as they have done it with the 35+.
Regarding the "special" bearing of the Keepon, as far I have seen you can mill out the edge in the crankcase and place a normal bearing. |
One more thing I don't like about the Keep-on. It is using a special exhaust seal which is only available from Novarossi and goes for around 12 Euro a pop :eek:

Ok, so with the best driver, all other variables being equal, the keep on is the fastest? I see some flash and keep on with the "A" or "S" behind the name. Does this mean steel and ceramic bearings? Also, i looked on kamikaze rc website and they have some listed as "S" and full ceramic. Aren't they the same thing?

Does it matter if it has a light cooling head? (just a few grams)
Does it matter that it has a lowered head? (comes most of the time with more heat in the engine) Does it matter if it has a steel or a ceramic bearing? (most drivers can not notice the difference) You have to think about the engine itself and not the gadgets which comes with it. If you are no fast driver all those gadgets will not help to get you close to the toplevel drivers.. |

Before the coated pistons there were a lot of issues with damaged pistons at the exhaust port, they looked like they had to less lubrication in conbination with a tight pinch and so the surface of the piston showed as it was rubbed.
The coating was a some kind of DLC which creates a very low friction surface. But after running in the part where it touched the sleeve most had no coating anymore. Probably they have done it to give it a smoother run-in for not damaging the piston. In the real automotive industry (as I was tod for sure with Mercedes) this is also done a lot on the crankpins. |
