I have read somewhere the coating is a reinforcement of the crankcase but I doubt it will make the case stronger. But you will never know what the teamdrivers are using, maybe their cases are from a different matirial.
Once I swapped the internals from a JP Eagle over to a crankcase of a 35+ due some problems and I did not notice a difference in performance.

On high traction tracks the short fat needle was the hot ticket and on low traction the longer thin needle was best.

The coating that is on most of the black or gray crankcases is a hard coating and it changes the actual Rockwell rating for the hardness of the material used in the crank case. Rockwell is a measurement used to rate the hardness of materials. So the case will usually display signs of more rigidness and less flex.

non conical = better fuel economy and less power.
but with what you are getting in power wise, could be a good trade off to try the non conical
or if thats what you are using now, then try my Conical next meet
