I have a s421bsnx engine that is showing signs of wear, I was thinking of removing a head shim but this engine only has one really thick head shim.
can you run an engine without a head shim or should I order a thinner one? |

Honestly man, I think theres either something wrong with your fuel, or the tuning is a tad off. I would guess fuel maybe. There is no way you should be going through 4-5 glow plugs in one race day. You should only really need 1 or 2 spare plugs in case you blow one..but 5 is rediculous!
I very rarely go through plugs, using Runnertime. However I change the plug once every 2 meets, just as a pre-caution. but yeh, what fuel you running? cheers I'm using O'donnell 25% and C7TF glow plugs long body. Operating temperature 110C. Weather : Humid, 34C - 36C, close to sea level. The problem with my glow plugs : (1). sometimes the nipple portion become off, I can wiggle it !!! or the top portion become discolor, like was over heating or something. (2). The platinum coils are not glowing anymore. BTW, long body vs short body ? what are they ? and recently I look at novarossi black glow plug with gold nipple, what is it ? Thank you friends. |

Lately I have to prepare 3 - 4 glow plugs for 1 day racing ( 1/10 engine ), and 4-5 glow plugs for 1/8 . Here, we have had a batch of Novarossi plug that were "playing up" so most stopped using it back approx 2 years ago. Then most switched to Odonnel and they were great and lower price too. Now people start saying the "funny" thing is happening to the Odonnel plug! Your 2006 or 2007 batch could be the same 2005 batch. I used to have short life from Plug, 1 per day. Now change plug ave of 80 to 90min run time after checking the conrod and bearing more frequently and play more attention to the engine tunning. Smoke and sound, as well as Temp. |

I am 100% believe that your .21 come with 0.7mm head shim from factory (if it is 35Plus 21 or 359) then you need to increase to 0.9mm. In Europe they are using 0.7mm but in Asia and down here we need extra 0.2mm due to ambient temperature is higher than Europe. Also use C8 plug

From 2004 to 2008 we dont have problem regarding Novarossi plug. |
About 5 years ago, I started getting bad batch of Nova plugs. Pretty much you will blow a plug every run on the same batch. Switch to a different batch and things comes back to normal.
Moved to the Odonell a few years ago and never look back. They works like a plug should. If you run too lean they will still blow and they last much longer. Have not found a bad batch of plugs yet. Then I have not tried any from this year. The best thing about the Ondonell is when they blow, they don't drop the coil into the piston and burn a hole on it! |

BTW, gamma lube exhaust smell is sting, unlike o'donnell is acceptable. |

Plus .21 Rods
Can I use the same conrod for the 35 Plus 21, the 359 & the new Collari Limited Edition motors? I know all the conrods have different part numbers but can I use the collari rod in the other 2 motors?:confused:

No, the 35-plus has a 5mm crankpin, the Collari a 4.7mm and the new 359 I was told has even 4.3mm crankpin.

This weekend was the US open and man what a race. I had a good time and some really good racing. I was on top for most of the event but had to settle for second place. Out of the 6 rounds I won 4. Paolo was able to take it with a good run in the cool of the day, getting me by 1 second. Do to the rain we did not get to run the mains. Paolo was also running a Nova based engine. It was evident that the Nova based motors where the motors to beat. Thanks to Novarossi for the great support and awesome products. Till next race.
