a pinched piston/sleeve set is not like a brand new............it can be sooooooooo tight, just depends how it's done........

and when you manage to turn the engine it looses its pinch within few tanks...........

don't worry, a new engine won't be that hard to start........

I actually managed to run about 8 tanks through it, and it was still getting stuck at tdc.
Good to hear i wont be going through THAT again with my new engine :)

Anyone ever have to refill there filled rex/novarossi crank for any reason? if so, what did you use?

Thanks,

I can attest to these statements. My NSR12S5 sleeve gave out during a race once. Had it pinched, and within 3 races, it was back to where it was originally. So I ordered a new set.

If you break it in correctly, it shouldn't have a problem running it, but it will take some time to get that first tank thru. The P/S set for the NSR was so tight it would not turn over with my box. It was so bad the starter box belt actually stripped. After replacing the belt and getting a heat gun, I got it to turn. My RB was even worse. For the first 8 tanks, I still needed a screwdriver to unstick the flywheel.

Well, I was told not to use the screwdriver technique, because it can scratch the piston or something. It was recommended to just use the heat gun, but eventually I had to use the screwdriver because the flywheel would not budge!!

a friend have a used PLUS 21-3C for sale.. he told me that he is replacing the conrod? (unsure the name of part) to a new one before i buy it. should i buy it?
now i have an old mega sx21-ev1 :)

or should i go for a new mega zx ds2? (powerpack) for near the same price.

2500SEK for the nova and 3500SEK for the zx21-ds2

nigelnuggets 08-19-2006 12:29 PM

Orfeus,
I will go with the new DS II it will be much better.

Orfeous 08-19-2006 12:34 PM

Ok, hmm... i really like the nova.. but.. mega zx21-ds2 runs very good.

he will include 3 chamber pipe and a exhaust

I have a small tip for all those who need to untrap the piston. Grab an allen wrench (please, not a ball shaped a straight one) and if your piston gets stuck, chuck the allen key into the screw that support the axial bearing and do a CW movement (engine runs in CCW) so you can untrap the piston easily without marring the flywheel.

i have made my decision.. i'll go for the nova.. it will be very good.
