Default Amount of smoke!

Hi, need to check with u guys:

my engine is running at the right speed and right temp. But i always find that the amount of smoke coming out from my exhaust are much more than the others! Does that mean im still running rich? can lean more to get more power? or is just that the fuel using are different thats why it give off more smoke?

Thanks!

Try changing your fuel. A friend of mine was using Sidewinder and had alot of smoke coming throughout his exhaust and no matter how much we leaned it, we didnt get full power. We switched to Maxys and problem solved. My suggestion is try other brands of fuel, specially to the ones your trying to compare. If its still get the same amount of smoke, then its nothing to worry about.

It could also be because of the oil content of your fuel. The more oil content you run the more smoke you will have.

It is not the amount of oil but the used oils. Most castor oils give more smoke than synthetic oils.

Setting up the engine onto to the amount of the smoketail is wrong. If you want to get the max out of the engine you have to try leaner and so raising up the temp and yes, you can go over the top which is not wrong if you correct it directly.
The laptimes, the sound of the engine and the visable performance are your indications to get the max out of it. Then it is wise to keep monitoring the temperature but the smoketail is the last thing to worry about.
