Jrabbito I also modify .21 engines. I've done a few.

Look, I got the power.
Uriah,

Edward from Palmaris is making his own rods for the Picco-based .12's now.
The rods I got from him for my NR engines are holding longer than the P/S sets.

I'm still running one that he put in my NSR in Ft.Myers in 2004!!!

This and a Nova carb should make especially the new LRP spec 2 a viable engine...

Hi Uriah,

Some time ago (05-23-2004) you posted this (edited):

How does the Mugen pipe compare to the Skyline VR12 i see you are using now?

The Skyline VR12 has a smoother powerband than the Mugen pipe. It feels easier to drive, and gets better fuel mileage. The VR12 is also much more durable than most pipes on the market, including the Mugen Shimo.

Rody, about the long stroke. I can't seem to get the power that I want out of the long stroke. I have been testing the engine for a few months now, and the short stroke (LS) is faster on the track than the long stroke, I tested stock and modified with the same results (short stroke faster). I tested the Rex LR3 which is the same as the N12LL3. The engine is supposed to have more "bottom end", but I can't seem to find it. The engine is not slow by any means, just not modified LS fast or Evo3 fast. I will say that the long stroke powerband feels more linear than the shorter stroke engine.
the LR3 engine is the same as N12LS3..........
bore and stroke are the same as the previous NS and NSR series (or RE and RER for the ReX line)........
basically the engine is pretty much the same as the older RER12 but much more stable and it usually reaches its optimum performance at 100~110ºC.....the new cranckcase made a good difference through out a 30~60min race........

The Rex LR3 engine is actually long stroke. At least the one I have. It is the same as the Novarossi N12LL3. The Bore on the LR3 is 13.70 stroke is 14.25. On the NS12S3 the bore is 13.80 stroke is 14.04. which is the same as the N12LS3, I have them all.

hey dude,

the red thing on the crank shaft is a special epoxy material used help the fuel flow better in the motor. unforunately, you can't replace it or buy it.... you will need to buy a new crank shaft for the motor.

You can use Permatex RTV high temp silicon to fill the void. Make sure to remove any of the remaining material before using the RTV. The trick is getting the right shape, and making it smooth. Oh and make sure you let it cure for at least 24 hours before you re install the crankshaft.
