Due to a very low traction condition my JLR EVO 2 in a NT1 is underivable, due to the insane torque it produces. Things I've tried, detuned the motor, running 20% O'Donnell fuel, over geared as much as I can, installed the Skyline V-12 header and pipe, adjusted the clutch as soft as it can go. The chassis has been tuned for the low grip condition. Just way to much low end power. Any suggestions?

Guys, I hate to say it, but I do believe the OS speed TZ has the evo 3 covered. we ran them back to back this weekend at the Latemodel summer nationals. we tried gearing, clutch set-ups, and pipes. in every conceivable configuration the Speed TZ was smoother through the power band, easier to tune and was able to run cooler temps and still rip harder down the straights. The skyline VR12+ is a great pipe on the evo 3 and likewise strong on the Speed TZ. If anyone has any ideas or anything they would like to see tested on a high grip dirt oval i'm all ears. Both motors tested were run on rocket science 30% fuel and both motors have had about 3/4 of a gallon of fuel through them.

Not having run a speed tz yet I can't say for sure but generally OS motors have a broader power band then most others which could really help a single speed oval car. Get a two speed and a straightaway longer then most dirt oval's centerline and peak horsepower starts to show. Maybe try a 2607 pipe.

I will go with you on the ease of tuning, and they are fast. But there is not a chance that the OS will run with any Picco based engine if tuned right. And also with the Skyline pipe that in itself chops the top off. The only other issue that I see as well asI have never seen a on road OS that will have a piston/sleeve set last as long as the Picco or Nova based engines. Try the same test with the Picco tuned and then run a 2607 or a 2617 pipe. And tell me if the results are a bit better. And we are speaking of the OS Speed right? One other thing is that the truth be known that when OS wants to come out with a fast engine they will. They have the ability to do so. They just choose not to at this point. They are focused now on the off road where for the most part they have dominated. Now they are dabbling in the on road to test the water.
Just my 2 cents though.

for clarification i'm referring to the original speed TZ. We have the Speed TZ spec 2 but have yet to break it in. the spec 2 is supposed to be even stronger but we'll have to see. This weekend saw some incredible motors most notably the class winner ran a murnan modified nova 353.

i have run both a TZ and a JL .12 in a CRT .5... the Picco definitely has more power and speed in this application...

The taper is like you already know the shape of where thew plug seals. So the plug you put in needs to meet the degree of angle. Nova plugs have a shallower taper and they will not seal right and distort the taper. You do not want to do this. You can run the OS as they have the same taper and also the picco and the sirio plugs as well. They all share the same. The Odonnell if it fits in thew OS which I do think it does will fit and you can run them. But you may see a difference in the way the engine runs with the different plugs though. Hope it answers the question. And for the price the Euro is way high and the yen and such is still a bit lower. That is why they are so much different in price.
