Yes you can, when the rod of your RC engine has decided to come out of the crankcase you throw the engine in your 1:1 car and then you can run many liters with still not replacing the rod of your RC engine.

Yes, in the ofroad many liters is done, with the onroad it can be over within 10 liters, for sure when you have a high performance competition engine and you run it as a pro. Would you risk a 500 dollar engine over a 40 dollar rod replacement?

This was after 7 liter....

That's on any engine with heater and NMF/bestline combo...Reducing vibrations is the key !!!

It's a really bad idea to run 20 litres on a rod if you are competing at a decent level on-Road (off road is a different story). Don't risk your engine doing this. 10 litres max if you are competing.
Many of us only pre-heat engines during break in and then only if it's very cold out. During the summer etc then there really isn't any need to pre-heat anymore after a good break in

I run both off-road and on-road GT- the on-road engines just get so much more punishment, especially if you tune them for their full potential. They are on much higher revs almost all the time. It is good practice to replace the conrod after 1-2 gallons, there is just no doubt in that. After that it depends on what you want from that particular engine.

I also think it's good to pre-heat it as well, regardless of age, I think it's just common sense. I do it almost all the time. I have one made from an old hair-dryer and a can: it gets to the same temperature as the RC ones but in less than a minute. I think the RC heaters maybe heat the whole engine a bit better (I have both), but I don't need to wait for 10 minutes to get it up the temperature. However pre-heating is definitely not the difference between a 8 liter and a 30 liter life-span. So this is a personal preference, but conrod change is a must.
