a bad ass engine for a small track is the mugen x12 modified by murnan. he has a thread on the main forum. i have several (about 5 of the X12 by JP) and the murnan mod is better.
his link is in my signature. i am not sponsored by him, i just think that he provides great support for his products.

Pictures of the Ninja engine being run-in are up.
Basically the engine is quite easy to start up and ran-in after 1-2 tanks of idle. Followed by the slow process of rich runs on the track to free up the engine.
What i gather is the engine has very good low grunt to fabulous mid-range. The driver comment that the engine is very driveable in the mid-sections of the track with very good mid-power. Revving up to 48k on the long straights of the track was a easy task. In the end, with engine being not fully tuned to the max, it was shaving off 0.2secs per lap.
It has very good potential. There was no time to test the different manifold lengths but what i have seen is great great results.
Disclaimer: no disclaimer coz its really good!
