Ninja Engine by GRP

Motor ran ok today...apart from its 4 minute run time and numerous flame outs in the A-main..managed to get 4th..
JP Eagle has been ordered..hopefully I'll have more luck with that motor..and try and get this MRT Ninja running decent...

just a note , i found with this motor the LSN and idle are very sensitive to adjustments so i think thats why its easier to get a good tune with 20%.

Gave the new Ninja RO1T a real go today...and all I can say is im dissapointed...It's good down low..but up top it struggles... Got a big race meet tomorrow..and I'm seriously considering putting my RO1A back in..
Plus side is - head stays cool as!!
Will be interesting tomorrow too see how it goes..
If it's still got nothing,..might buy the new JP?

There's big chances that you haven't finished the break-in, don't rush it, if you have a R01a at hand completely broken-in use it and you'll put the MRT when it decides to finish the break-in.

Uhm... the R01-T should be quick as a raped ape, I suspect you're having a tunning problem with it and lack of break-in. Seen one and is... BALLISTIC. In fact, the driver s*ited their pants on the rostrum and put a 8mm restrictor on it to calm the beast.

Hey dude, do you know how much run time he was getting before re-fueling? I was getting 4 minutes..and the bottom end was pretty much as lean as you'd wanna go..

the nija is a little better
but try and get a ninja now,its hard so i have to settle for the rd.

Another way or gaining runtime is going from conical to straight tube manifolds, but you'll lose power. Check if someone can bring you a Nova 9886 pipe and a short straight manifold and see if runtime improves too.

Ok. You could have the LSN leaned as a hell but if is too lean could mask a too rich HSN, hence you poor runtime. Give us more details of your car when running only 4 minutes, starting from engine, fuel, chamber height (measure it with the crushed solder), ratios, wheel measurements and of course, track size and type, you could have there somewhat wrong.

Anyone know what the optimum temp is to run up top on this engine? as the head doesnt really get hot at all..just warm..
#941
Cutouts with a cool head are quite common with a very lean bottom and rich top end. I suspect your tune probably is not optimal.
I dont know about the MRT version but my R01 runs really well at about 105 on the plug.

Drivers should not look at the engine temperature to much.
Humidity, airtemp, fuel type are all factors which have influence on the temp.....
First (learn to) tune your engine right, and then take the temp. as a future reference.

Engine question: I don't get much time to practice and work on gearing. I've been plagued with this Ninja engine, .12. It seems to be ok, temp wise, but it sure is a slug out of the hole with the gearing that I used. The same gearing on my Max power, the car is a bullet. I'm going to try dropping a tooth on the pinnions. Can anybody give me some input on the gearing for this engine....does it need to rev more? do I need to send it to Grinder? or do I just sell it and get another Max?

or put it in a mugen (joking)
my ninja has more go than my max's ever did.
how is the tune.
