Stuck sleeve, connecting rod broken?
Hi fellow racers,
I have a problem with my engine. The connecting rod has broken and the sleeve is stuck so I can't get it out with the usual zip-tie method. Simple preheating and WD soaking don't work. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Remove backplate, pull out crankshaft.
Push piston down into crankcase.
Use sleeve removal tool.

If the sleeve is not damaged I put a flat head screwdriver through the rear into the transfer channel above the rear bearing. Put one side tip against the wall of the crankcase and turn it arround so it will push the sleeve up

Use some sort of plastic tool handle or old tooth brush handle.
Push the piston out thru the bottom if you can, insert the plastic piece in the exhaust, and use the broken rod still attached to the crank to push it up.
It wont move it very far but maybe enough to put a flat screw driver under the top of the sleeve.
If you cant get the piston out, do the same thing just get it down below the exhaust hole.
As long as the rod didn't strike the liner and bend/ distort the sleeve, it should come out fairly easy. May need to be "convinced."
If you are trying to salvage the piston and sleeve, be gentle and don't use anything metal.
