I appreciate the explanation, makes sense now - I wasn't certain if the "hole" had to be lined up looking down the barrel. Thanks!

I also tried to rich the top to see if it was going to help the bottom but it did not, it just become rich on top. Having said that, about the pinch I can not turn the engine from the flywheel when its cold also without glow plug. Does this mean that I still need plenty to go before I finish the break in?

Thanks
Are you still running out-of-box front bearing? Maybe its time to replace it, mine asked for it around 3L mark (for me its ok to blow stock OOB bearing during break-in procedure due to rich mix)

If you're blowing a front bearing in the first gallon then you're doing something very wrong.

Does anyone know the difference between the Ninja JX21B03 and the B2101 besides the obvious external cosmetics?

Looks like an OS B2101, same capacity 3.46cc etc

If you want the same engine, but 'different' look at a MX ...BUT that will cost a lot more.

I have a tech question for those who know. I'm currently rebuilding my Samurai, Spec 2 and B2101.

1. First question - all 3 crankshafts fit each engine though each have slight differences. Despite this the timings are all the same regardless which combination I use! Therefore can I put a B2101 crankshaft into a Spec 2?

2. The piston/sleeve/con rod for the samurai is different to the Spec2 and B2101. However the piston and con rod for the Spec 2 and B2101 are the same. The sleeve for the Spec 2 and B2101 are different. I thought the Spec 2 was a long stroke and the B2101 a short stroke so how come the con rod and pistons are the same and similarily the crankshaft?? Is it only the sleeve which makes a difference???

Basically I prefer the Spec 2 over the B2101, so if I can use my B2101 crankshaft, front and rear bearings with a new rod and use my current Spec 2 piston sleeve in a Spec 2 crankcase it would give me a new Spec 2 engine without having to spend anything!

Clear as mud? If anyone has the expertise, be great to hear back, Cheers

I dont know if this helps

The B2101 (3.46cc) is know as square, same bore and stroke

Bore: 16.40 mm (0.646 in.)•Stroke: 16.40 mm (0.646 in.

The Spec 2 is not and is 3.49cc

Bore: 16.27 mm (0.640 in.)•Stroke: 16.8 mm (0.661 in

It's like one of those puzzle questions about crossing the river with a goat and a wolf etc...

B2101 - square bore and stroke

Samurai - short stroke

Spec 2 - long stroke.

I believe all crank cases are the same - spec 2 style.

Minor note, the ninjas do not come with all the additional carb inserts.

Nothing like the wide powerband of the spec II. I snapped a rod in the B2101 and put in a spec II. Luckily the rod broke on the bench while tuning on Th box.

In the words of Dyno Dan "that's a mans engine"
Not that I didn't enjoy every time I pulled the throttle with the B2101.

It ran flawless the rest of the week.
