Running in the Cold with a new motor wouldn't be the wisest idea. but it could be done. I suggest a little head coozzie (like a Beer coozie) to help try and keep some of the temp in the motor. Also Remember you RICHEN when Cold out. NOT LEAN it out to make temp.

ME and my dad are ordering a new engine for it as a spare one just incase anything happens. So I may enjoy it during this winter and if it gets trashed, we will just replace it in the spring

From now on, you will need to put your engine questions in the engine forum. I have moved several of them already, and basically, they are asking the same type of questions. So please continue in the same threads that you have already started, and keep any new engine questions in the engine forum.

Thanks.

You'll find that everyone around here is always glad to help with questions, but if they are repeated, or different threads created for very similar questions, you won't get many responses, and some will get irritated. We have alot of threads started every day, so the more we can keep the same type of stuff together in already created threads, the better for everyone.

No need to feel like an idiot!...lol. We all started right where you are at at one point, so just take it in when we try to help you, and you'll be fine. And enjoy the hobby, it's a blast.

Thanks.

That sounds like a great plan. And no worries.

Have a great Christmas!

WE have about not even a quarter of an inch of snow on the ground, but it is definately visible. Its only on about my driveway and the grass; the street is clear. I am going to run my broken in and tuned nitro rc car today on the street. Any precautions other than being wary of some black ice that may be there that I should take?

is you rc water proof if not you could fry your servos if they get wet or receiver be careful and stay out of water. have fun if it is water proof. but most dont run their nitro rc cars/trucks in the winter. its considered the off season and time to rebuild if car needs it or just general maint time

And beside that, no nitro engine likes such extra cooling from snow and water and do not forget the airfiter will get blocked by the moisture....

I just got my first nitro on christmas. I am going to learn off it and run it some during the cold days this winter. Also, The engine will be replaced once it becomes springtime , so basically it will be a fresh start then. There is really nothing to rebuild as its 4 days old and Ive maintained it only by doing the after run procedures and what not. If i plop the receiver in a balloon, then put that in the reciever box, cover the edges it with electrical tape; will it be okay? Maybe over a couple of days or weeks I can pass some time by waterproofing it and replacing the stock plastic pipe with the traxxas 4485.
