Questions?? O.S. XZ-B Speed Hara Problems

Hi,

I have a O.S. XZ-B Speed Hara edition engine but I have been having a lot of problems with it. No matter what I do with the tuning the engine gets very hot. I have broke the piston and cylinder on it two times now. I've shown the engine to some people at my local track and they said that there was a problem with it. What should I do?

Thanks

I think in order for you to get an answer your going to have to give alot more details. Like what fuel, Glowplug, shimming, pipe, car ect. You have something bad wrong though if you broke even one piston from heat.

If you broke the piston then you either didn't break it in properly, installed it wrong or the rod it worn out.

How hot is very hot?
Is there still smoke coming out of the pipe?
How does it sound high idle, lean bog?
I have one of these engines and I absolutely love it.

Hi,

It gets to about 140 celcius even when its super rich. Changing the tuning doesnt effect the temp at all it gets hot all the time...

Not to bash you but your learning how to tune on expensive motors not smart you should buy a 200 dollar motor my suggestion. What's your needle positions how far do they go into the housing.

If you have erratic temperatures then you have a bad leak. Also why are you going through piston and sleeves what type of break-in are you doing.

Have you checked your fuel lines and tank for leaks? You may have a cracked or bad case, or other issues causing a leak. This will make temps high regardless of tune becasue it is sucking air from places it should not.

If you cant find it you can send it in to us and we can inspect it.

Hi guys thanks for the tips... Also last time I rebuilt my engine the piston and con rod were very tight and didn't move freely, I asked about this to some local guys and they said it was normal.. This time when I changed the con rod it isn't tight at all and moves freely. Can this have caused my previous problems?

Spray nitro cleaner behind the flywheel while the engine is running, if it stalls, you may just need a front bearing.

I would send it in for inspection to RcRenew.com or year it down and check to see if bearings are fine, crack in block or leak in bearing etc, air leak on tank, also installation. Cracking rods etc happens when engine is tired or not broke in/tuned right or something internally is seizing like bearings. Also if things have broke before bearings, button, block, and crank are all prone to damage. This could have caused damage again due to the previous breakage. Scared piston etc. I would send it in for a islection if your stumped, put in new tank, fuel lines, and filters. This should help. Engine inspection price is real fair and you know exactly what is the cause. I have never had a rod be really hard to remove from crank but there shouldn't be slop either. U have issues really bad internally somewhere in that engine or your tune is real lean maybe both.

(I currently own one and it's a champ)

+1 on rcrenew.com. I sent an engine to Lance recently and I was very pleased.
