Default Crack In The Piston

Hey guys i was running my Mach 427 at a race one night brought the car in and everything was fine. A few days later i pulled the whole engine out and took it apart everything looked ok, except i noticed a shallow crack in the piston its not all the way through though, its above the wrist pin but below the top of the piston. Now my question is. Is there anything i can use to put in the crack to keep it from spreading?

Ya just mix up some JB Weld and smear in there you'll be fine.... B.S.

get your hands on a new piston and rod....i can almost bet anything that there's just a slight tick in the wrist pin, and that's what caused your piston to crack....do you see anything odd in the crank case or on the top of the piston??
i had a motor with ceramics and one of the rear bearing balls broke in half, and ended up sticking up in the sleeve, bringing my piston to a cracking halt

i think duct tape is the best method of repairing a cracked piston.

Leave the crack. The cracked piston will vibrate like a tuning fork. This will make it easier to tune. When the piston reaches it's resonant frequency, you'll know your tune is perfect.

Honestly, by the time you buy a new p/s, wrist pin, clips and con rod,
you would have to spend almost $100. Thats alot of money to sink into
an engine that costs $149 new and all your going to end up with is a
Mach 427 engine. Put it back together, run it until it blows up and
then buy yourself a decent engine.
Use the cracked piston and con rod as a trinket for your key chain and
the cooling head for a paper weight.

CA glue......In all honesty nothing can be done. Make it a paper weight and get somthin diffrent. A mach wouldn't last u much in racing anywhoo.

Yeah, I liked that one too....would give new meaning to "getting the engine to sing".
