FUSION X ENGINES THREAD

FROM NEOBUGGY.NET

Jim Hottinger of Fusion Motorsports/HotMods is pretty well known in the US RC racing scene - distributor of Novarossi for many years and highly regarded engine mod specialist he has now embarked on a new venture; his own line of Fusion X Engines.

This project has been in the works for several years. Fusion X Engines are manufactured to my specifications by Novarossi Italy; I felt it important for you to know who is building your next engine. I have been working on the manufacturing/business side of the RC car hobby industry for 27 years. Within this time I have had the pleasure of working with Novarossi Italy for 20 years. When the opportunity presented itself to develop an OEM engine line, I put all my 27 years’ experience of listening to you the racer. From your feedback we have developed better engines to fit your needs. Three main points came out of all the feedback I received, Price, Runtime, and Power during the Research & Development phase of the Fusion X Engine line.

Fusion X3 .21
This engine is very similar to the BF/Limited from Novarossi, the engine I spec out seven years ago and was only available for the USA market. The X3 engine retails for under $150US and will include an updated carburetor making for easier tuning, better runtime, and increased power. The X3 engine is perfect for entry level, practice, short tracks, indoor tracks, and spec racing classes.

Fusion X7 .21
My plan for this engine was to develop a balance between Price, Runtime, and Power. This engine is great for Truggy and Buggy classes; it has a linear power band with both Bottom end and Top end power. The Fusion X7 engine comes with a 7 port sleeve, 14mm non-filled crank, front & rear steel bearings, and turbo plug combustion chamber for under $310 USD. If you would like the EXTREME X7 version it will come with a FILLED crank, Front & Rear CERAMIC bearings for under $350US. We have tested the EXTREME version at over eleven minutes runtime.

Fusion X28 .28
I took the best from an old favorite 8 port beast of an engine and made it even better. This engine will be a favorite for out of control Truggy, Monster Trucks, and Drag Racing enthusiast. Massive amounts of bottom end torque and mid-range with good top end power. If you miss having power the Fusion X28 is what you need. This engine comes with a 14mm crank, front & rear steel bearings, and turbo plug combustion chamber for under $350US. I am working on a special modification package for this engine that will make the Fusion X28 the most powerful RC engine I have ever worked with.

Every Fusion X Engine will have the same long lasting metallurgies used in all Novarossi engines. Expect long life, great power, and excellent support for all Fusion X engines. There are two more .21 engines I am currently working on, one is for buggy and the other is for Speed/Drag/Outlaw racing. We will still be carrying Novarossi pipes, plugs, manifold, gaskets, etc. I hope you enjoy my new Fusion X Engine line.

X3 might be my next engine when ever my N21r dies.

I got to see Monty run his X7 at the Nitro Challenge. Unfortunately it was not fully broken in or race tuned but it looked really good on the track even still. I'm anxious to try one also

I have been doing some talking with Jim at Fusion and we were talking turkey about port timing of existing and past novarossi engines and I believe Jim came up with some really good numbers for timing specs along with his selection of carb to use on his line of engines. I will be carrying this line of engine in the very near future and the performance level and price point will be one of the better buys in the industry.

The X3 will be based off of the N21R Limited with the same carb from the plus 4 and still in the same price range of the N21R.

The X7 will be a single exhaust port, 7 intake design that will replace the FMS and with lower transfer timing and higher blowdown timing, the engine will have more low end performance without sacrificing the midrange and top end side of the performance spectrum.

The X28 will be based of the older N528XR that was considered one of the best performing and reliable engines of their time and with the addition of the new style carb, it will have the long loved performance we have missed from the N528XR with the added tunability and run time efficiency we have come to expect and love about the plus 4.

I have personally run the older N528XR and I consistently was getting 9:30-10: 00 with the older carb so I can't wait to see what the new carb will do for the powerband and run time.

The X3 and X28 are available now and the X7 will be available at the end of the month.Feel free to pm or email me about engine pricing and custom modification services I will offer on this line of engines.
