agreed. WD-40 is not a true lubricant. Although it has lubricative qualities, they are not enough to lubricate the inner parts of these engines. WD-40 stands for Water Displacement formula 40.
Also, unless the after-run oil is specifically marketed towards engines with ramped cranks, it will try and separate the epoxy from the metal. To date, I know of none which are intended to be used with epoxy ramped cranks. |

I have not seen any part from a Alpha that looks like a Go, they are totally different engines. Both are great engines, I would say the Alpha has better power than the Gx5r. I have a GxII on the way and will compare it to the Alpha a852 and a872 and Argus motors I also have on the way.

I don't think you know what your talking about in this situation. I have never driven a Alpha motor but I know several Alpha team drivers who have driven my car and ran there own go motor and told me that the go motors had way more power and the material was better in their opinion. Example there at one time where only 3 maybe 4 speaker manufacturers in the world but yet some speakers are better than others. I have been in a speaker manufacturers building and they showed me materials they use on 100.00 speaker and material they use on 500.00 speaker same manufacturer but diffrent performance and material. Like I said I have never driven an Alpha motor or seen one apart but I have been told by several people the Go is better. But that's what's great about freedom of speech. O and as far as tuning the same. Every Go driver I know uses the go Carb and every Alpha driver I know uses the O.S. Carb.
as for go people saying they are better theres one word for them "fanboys" im a fanboy of both, i own both, you cant compare something thats $100.00 to $500.00 in RC of course it will be better, thats like comparing taiwan engines to a nova plus 4 or o.s speed etc.when it comes to RC "in general and most of the time" same factory = same materiel. because of the amount of pinch these engines have its hard to compare each other especially if one of the two has a tiny bit of pinch left. if you havnt owned both, dont comment on it, because as you said.."I don't think you know what your talking about in this situation" |
I just wanna race !

The snow we got melted and made it so the dirt was perfect for redoing the practice track. With tomorrows rain and sun alll weekend it should pack down nice and tight. :sneaky:

Well I have not owned one but like i said I know several Alpha Team drivers that told me personally that our carb tunes better and the Go had more power also I am damn sure I don't know any Alpha driver getting Ten and Burton,Lopez, marrow, haggard and myself can get Ten. The bottom line is they are not the same.

i have owned almost every engine out there (no joke)! i have decided to run GO GX5R and OS speed. these 2 engines where the easiest to break in and have tons of power and IMO, would not compare these 2 engines to any other. that being said, when you can decide on these 2 engines, what does that really say? the GO GX5R can hold its own, and yes i compare it to the speed, i havent tried the GXII yet,,,, hint....hint.....moto! LOL

here is a list of what I've tried with the engine today and results. 1; switched out head/head button= no change. So my thought of it having a crack where glow plug sits was wrong. 2;put the new GX-II head and button on a engine I knew was running great= ran fine 3;put a brand new carb. on the gxII-ho along with a break in shim= good running, but still to a small degree wants to go rich when I fill tank. 4;put on brand new tank/pipe/lines= good running, but still wants to go rich when I fill tank 5;Installed my gx-3r in above=same as always hauls butt. Will idle all day same ole song and dance with that engine. 6;put gx-II carb. on my gxr-3 port= no run, impossible to tune. what am I saying, you can't tune the carb at all. 7; put long lsn into the new gxr carb I had am now getting a balance from engine. very touchy to tune with the new metal lsn. Matt if there is anything you can think of that I'm doing wrong let me know. A couple of questions;is the metal lsn suppose to have 2 o-rings on it? And what were your needle settings? I know mine won't be identical but am curious to how close or far off i am. I am using byrons 30% now with an os-p3 plug. |
