why not?....heat cycle....5 three min runs at 1/4 throttle in figure 8's...just easy roll ons..no blips (pre heat to 220F and let cool between each run) and the 3 five min runs the same way but roll on to 1/2 throttle and slowly go full throttle but never wide open for longer then a second or 2...once thats done...you can put a decent tune on it and run the practice sessions and by the qualies, she will be ready to GO:sneaky:...we have done several motors like this...all with great results

Thanks for the help man! Busy with the family limits my time spent on Rc Work :) I'll be looking forward to meeting you and racing on saturday. See you then bud!

Looks like they've updated the products on the site as well!

I talked to them last night, and they want to make a small change to the crank. ETA is middle of this month. Other than that, the prototypes I just received have production parts in them. You guys can look forward to a much easier and shorter break in. Also, the new LSN is polished. It has a different taper, and is MUCH easier to see when tuning the low end.

as soon as I get my leg brace paid for I want to get one of the preheaters from you. Can I hook the 12v one up to my starter box with a lipo battery? I was thinking of adding the lipo battery after hearing how well they work/and lighter.

motomatt 03-05-2011 09:33 PM

Fully charged 3s lipo is 12.6v. Eric (the designer) is pretty "strict" about not exceeding 12v. But some users in the Comp Heat thread have measured the voltage and they state that the voltage goes down to 12 once the heater is plugged in. I've seen no reports (nor received any myself) of the heaters failing due to this ever so slightly higher voltage. Bear in mind that that the 12v model draws about 5-6 amps. On a 5000mah battery, that would come out to about an hour's use per charge. Minus whatever the starter motor would take from the battery. Many users run TWO lipos in their starterbox. One for the starter motor, and a separate pack for the heater.

finally got to run my GX-HO engine today :)

engine was still rich but was right on the pace and set fastest lap of the day so it cant be too bad.

bit heavy on fuel with the 8mm venturi and fat tune but to be expected..its only done 5 tanks before it was thrust onto the track under race conditions so couldnt be more happier.

it feels smoother than the old 5 port but just as quick.

Round 2 of the Grass Roots Racing Series @ Thunder Alley was very fun!...i ripped out a turnbuckle end, during warm up for my 1st qaulifier...luckily i had great pit men that rushed my truck back to the pits and got it back together in time for me to only miss a couple of laps, and i qualied 6th in the expert truggy A-main..with Cody King as TQ:flaming::lol:... the main was going good untill i tumbled for about 50 feet while some fat guy just watched and waited till my car stopped tumbling and broke..then he moved and picked up my truck:lol: and i got a DNF:cry::D...oh well it was still fun....All 4 GX5R motors ran great this weekend...unfortunately my buddy broke the engine mount tab, clear off the motor and did not know it till the motor got 400 degrees and just obliterated the rod:eek:...still was a great weekend....and how many times to you get a chance to run with and possibly beat the World Champ:eek:....great times...cant wait till round 3....
