well I started breaking in my gx-r 3port that rex welch[racer22]modded for me. Fantastic job Rex!! I love the 3 ports
put on a 17 tooth clutchbell and started the fig8's. 22:00 min. later I was almost out of gas at 1/4 throttle. After taking care of some business I am going to run some more fuel through it. I had the wife out there doing fig8's for me. This engine I have a feeling will get fantastic fuel mileage at race tune. But the bch of the whole thing is you just want to give it full throttle.

Patience Matt, patience
I know what you mean though. It sure is tempting to pull that trigger a little bit harder than you should

1 gen 5-3 port/rb modded,1 gxr 3 port rex modded. and one brand new gen 5 5 port I think some where. Unless I sold that one too. I need to look through the boxes. I have bought these engines for little or a great price. Only because people could not tune them/won them use diff. brand or just to stupid to read and follow instructions. With the help of people such as yourself I have compiled a big stock of the parts that usually wear out. All my carbs are the same except for the mg's and I think the gxr. I'll have to look. So basically every engine tunes almost identical after run in. I am never off by more then 1/2 hour either way. The engine you saw in my 808 has 12 gallons on it. Still great compression and runner. Will I replace when it blows? no toss it get a new one. Like I have explained before I take my time breaking these in,am not close to driving in or with the pro's[yet] so these engines pretty much hone my tuning skill's and driving capabilities. And I get to travel and have fun. When you see all my stuff in the for sale section that means 1-I'm not having fun/2-I passed away and my wife is unloading it all.
Forgot the mg's I got from my sponsor answer r/c america. Sorry bout that mike.

i have a GX7R new in box, im going to leave the GEN 5 in for now, it runs perfect, so i dont really see the need to give up on it just because its the GEN 5....lol, plus it still looks good

Just a heads up boys - Stock up on PRS sets etc for your GX-7R's and the like. That way you can keep them running for a long time. It sounds like once the current stocks of the GX motors run out, that will be it for the GX Series as we know it. I am sure parts will be available for some time, but you just don't know.
I have yet to get a really straight yes or no answer on the 3R and 7R being phased out, but that is the general drift I am feeling from conversations with Taiwan. When they do a run of motors - say GX-7R's, they have to tool up and make 300 - 500 to make it viable. With the new GXII taking up all the production time and resources for race motors in the foreseeable future, a run of 300 - 500 older GX motors seems very unlikely. I would say when the warehouse is empty of current GX Series stock, that will be it.
I am sure the GXII will be a very worthy replacement, but I will be sad to see the existing GX range become obsolete, as they are soley responsible for GO's current rise into the motor market, and have been awesome motors.
I guess in this game if you stand still and rest on your laurels, you will get run over pretty quick, so we must continue to progress all the time.
