I am relatively new here but I have the "special edition" arrow with the colored head and previously ran it with a jp-3 with terrible results such as fuel consumption and flame outs. Recently put an OS 2050 on there and its a night and day difference. No flame outs and pretty decent fuel time (no races yet been rained out for a while).

I love the power this motor puts out but I love the price even more, just putting my noobish .02 in. ;)

how does this engine compare to the novarossi p5xlt?

Hi guys, have received my GTR engine about three months ago now, out off the box the engine looks fine, has smooth flowing piston that seems to mesh very well. Now three months on-- Have ran this engine in my 2.0 buggy, running specktrum lipo servos-6090-both, Qualifiying rounds on a average Australian temp day, ran 12 laps in 7mins consistently,1st main 1st position- 29laps in 20mins- 2nd main, 1st position-29laps in 20mins, this little engine competed against nova plus4 and ninga, and os, mine neva flamed out once all day, day tempreture 33deg. Value for money this engine will put up with heat, mine ran at 110 mid day on wards using 30% vp, and OS p3 plug, ran like hell all day. My opinion is bang for buck. PS no rod change yet, around 20ltr threw it so far.

Less bottom end, similar fuel consumption, for me I feel it is very reliable and more tolerant with tuning than any Nova I ever had.
I think the sleeve/piston on this will probably last longer than a P5 sleeve, but then you would have to change the rod a couple of times to make it last.

I have to say though I've re-cased mine in an old Ninja casing and an OS carb. I had no problems with it last weekend and I finished #9 in the A-main (oddly every single other driver on here seems to always TQ and win everything they enter, could they be a bit liberal with the truth?)

I'm well pleased with it, it seems to have tons of compression.

Yeap.......I ran the Arrow and powered to 2nd Place in our local league.....

I wouldn't said it is the most powerful engine in the world. It's linear power and consistency.....no flame out......11 mins run time......give me all I need.

Btw many doesn't get it. it is not the engine which power you to the victory. Setup, driving, tires........luck all needed for you to podium. As long as the engine don't flame out mysteriously.....you won half the battle.

I got 13 mins last weekend on the new Arrow 5 port during practice with a P3 plug, 6.5 restrictor, Rs-4 pipe and Sidewinder 25%. Came off at 240. I was trying to push it to get a good idea of it's run time.

Awesome little motor so far.

13 minutes a tank and pushing it? In buggy? Wow that's Incredible! how does a 100 dollar arrow can get better mileage then a 500$ speed when the best people in the world are around to tune it for that extra 10 seconds in hope to make 10 minute pitstops safe for the best drivers in the world and you found 13 minutes, it's just amazing. What's your secret? Are you running a bigger tank? Is the track small like maybe for a mini-t?

NO, I am no pro, I did spend some time on my lid and like I said, it was practice. Our Track is relatively small compared to some. Fast lap from the factory drivers is around 30 seconds, mine are around 33-34 and sometimes 50-60.

What I was trying to establish was you shouldn't have too much trouble tuning it to get 10 mins if you were in a situation where you needed it. In the main I was coming in after 7 minutes and still had a good amount of fuel.

The 13 minutes was starting the car, then the stopwatch, going up the drivers stand and driving until it died on the track. There was only one marshal on the track at the time so NO, I wasn't wide open the whole time.

I get 7:45 out of my Arrow in A-final full out racemode, running 2060SC OS pipe on a European style track (long and fast).
On the same track I get about 8:45 on a BTT w/9901.

Other guys on the same track pit at 7 minutes running P5XLT and Alpha engines.
So 7 minutes is where it's at on this track. Unless you run a 21-4C/BTT with a slouchy restrictive pipe.

So my verdict is the Arrow consumes on a par with P5XL, Alpha and other similar type engines. I think I have more left in the tank than my P5XL running buddy has when he pits. Real numbers from reality!

If I run practice and take it real easy I can get 12 minutes on any engine, race situations are a different matter.
I paid $135 for this engine on Ebay, so I figure you can't go wrong at that price. Also with the 2060SC o.s. pipe this thing is very powerful. I tried a different more restrictive pipe at first, which totally did not do it for this engine. I think one of the Losi pipes was rumoured to be a copy of the 2060SC, but it doesn't have EFRA numbers on it.

Here in FL we have only been able to get an average of 9 minutes on the Arrow in race conditions with the 2060 pipe. But our driver Joey "Batman" Perez has been testing things on the new GTR-II to get 10+ and is now getting 11 min at B and B Raceway. He is now using the new Arrow pipe with a cold glow plug, Sidewinder 30% with a 6mm reducer. That is on par with all of the engines available including $500 engines.

It is a great engine for under $200.
