Are those settings out from the housing or out from close.

Ok. I'm gonna see how your match up to mine. I normally use cal to measure mine. I will check it out this weekend when I get back to the car.

I get a some what ball park tune after break in is done. I then measure Whet my needles are for a small race tune. That seem to be where I always end up at after break in . This way if I run to trouble I will fall back to a some what rich tune. To do this I open them up large Enough to check. after I open them up You will have the long thin depth gage coming out the back of them. Next for an example we will use the hsp needle. So what I do is take long thin piece that is coming out the back of the call. The thin thing is for a depth read. I will place that on the high speed needle housing if the screw is out from flush then push the cal back end against the screw head. I take 3 reading and right then all down just to see the all end up around the same reading. I then do that for them all. I can post a picture tomorrow for you I'm sure it will help.

How do you all measure the carb. opening ? I go by sound and eyeball. :batman: R8 is awesome.

I'm assuming you mean the idle???? I just close the carb all the way and measure from the low speed needle housing to the opposite side of the carb (where a mid range needle would be if these carbs had them) that distance will change as you change your idle screw.... I hope that what you where looking for

That is what I meant .... never did it that way but makes sense.

I use a pin gauge set.

MitchelG 05-13-2014 05:04 PM

That makes alot of sense now... My low speed needles 1.45 mm in as of now my high speed is 35.7 mm out. I measured that from the top of the needle to the conveniently placed flat spot on the bottem of the carb (directly on the bottem side of the high speed needle) sorry I can't get any pictures hope that makes sense
