Probably have better luck with this in the engine section buddy. You can just ask a mod to move it for you I'm sure.

Ok, fair enough, but the mods will probably move it on you anyway since it's engine related. I don't own either but have close race buddies that run both. The P5 has been around for a while with very little changes and is rock solid as far as durability and has a really great bottom end. It's a workhorse motor.

The Plus 4 is a newer and IMO more advanced engine with a linear powerband and better runtimes. I run a truggy so If I was choosing I would go with the P5 for price, bottom end, and durability. But, most of the racers I know prefer the smooth power and run time of the Plus 4.

That's all the better I can do on these. Like I said I don't own either but I see both run at least twice a week. I have ran them also in their buggies and have helped them tune them in, so I'm not just shooting off at the mouth here.

This is coming from someone who runs a P5XLT on a regular basis.

P5XLT; C6TGC plug; Byrons fuel; 41021 manifold; 2084 pipe; on a Losi 2.0-T

Will go 10+mins runtime on *most* tracks and has been as high as 14mins.

It's close enough to the +4 mileage wise to come down to driver error.

For buggy...I'd stick with the 4. In truggy; without a doubt I'd pick the 5 everytime. Much more bottom/mid and doesn't give anything up on the top.

The 5 works real well on buggy too and will get mileage numbers. You just have to be a little smoother with your throttle finger

There's no great advancement in technology with the +4. It's a just a calmer engine overall.

Though the P5XLT now has a black crankcase, the castings are different.

The carbs, rear bearing *size*, conrod and other misc. hardware is shared.

However, the crankcase, piston/sleeve and crankshafts are different between the 5 and 4Team.

Personal choice, but for buggy the 4 is hard to beat.

Buggy: +4C-Team, 9901, 41021

Truggy: P5XLT, 2084, 41021

Since you're already running the P5 in a buggy, you'd probably be a little disappointed if you swapped to a 4 now. It's smoother, but also a lot calmer in the mid/bottom ranges where the 5 comes on like a torque monster.

Honestly no way I'd put a JP-x on a Novarossi.

Odonnel fuel is fine

If you want to see your P5 come alive another notch try a Nova 9853 or Dynamite 053. The JP1 should be putting a damper on your top-end and definitely isn't doing anything to help in the fuel mileage dept.

Seriously though, the current P5 is fast You're not missing out on anything power wise

Default yep

The above points are true, the p5 is really powerful but not quite as much top end as a plus4, but the plus 4 is a bit mild throughout the powerband...

The new P5 has more low, mid and top than the +4.

9886 is the way to roll

How are you guys finding the output compared to the old P5s? I loved that motor. Running an older Picco XP which is/was basically an early version (long stroke 5 port motor) with the long NR smooth mugen header on a brandy new 9886 and it is a complete animal. lol Ran it yesterday and I was very impressed. Not sure what the mileage will be in the end but I love those long stroke mills.

I'll be shopping for a new mill here shortly for next season and I'm again interested in the P5. How does it stack up to the current to the v-specs and such (not new speeds)? Pretty cheap money for a solid mill.
