Default MG-66

Is this a 5 or 7 port engine?

Welcome to all the current MG66 users, and those who are interested in running this amazing motor.
As the New Zealand distributor for this motor, we here at GO Racing NZ cannot speak highly enough of this product.
We have had a massive year in competition with this motor since it was released, with our team drivers winning all but one major event here, including our recent NZ Off-Road Championship two weeks ago.
The MG66 motors have performed flawlessly all season, in both buggy and truggy. We couldn't be happier.

I have personally been running the MG66 in my buggy since it's inception, and find it an incredible motor to drive. So very powerful, but so very smooth and controllable.
For those thinking of making the change to MG66 power, you can check out run-in and tuning tips for these motors along with other info at either http://www.massivemods.com.au/ or http://www.go-racing.co.nz/

Looking forward to having some of you on board with Team Massive Mods soon

I am not meaning to bash you here, but the MG 66 is still a 5 port engine....there are 5 intake ports...there is an added bypass port , but that is not a intake port that should be counted as a port when mentioning the number of ports...typically when the number of ports are being counted we only count the intake ports....

Hey Neil

its kinda coming across like that .. duly noted

the MG66 is actually an 8 port engine. Ports are not governed by the intake alone. its 5 induction with 3 big bore relief. But we call it a 6 port as the extra port added over the 5 port is designed to help with boost port induction.

So as the designer of the engine we call it a 6 port. MG66 6 Port. 666 the number of the beast ; )

They come with standard steel bearings . Or the up grade MG66XC package comes with a replacement set of Answer RC ceramics. the idea is to bed in the engine with the standard bearings then install the ceramics.

I am not going to bash your engine in one of your own threads, just a difference of opinion is all.....

Flano, afew questions for you. Did you check the temp on the motor in the video after your run? If so what was it? The motor is a modded version? That motor gets more than 11 minutes a tank? I'm very impressed. Have you had it very long to tell the life expectancy of it? Also what truggy is that you run? Looks frickin dialed! I think the double single double was the way to go in the one section. Thanks in advance.

I don't use a temp guage as a rule, I can tell if it's too lean if I start to lose power when below 1/2 to 1/4 tank, wich it didn't so she was spot on. It is the new MG66X in the video and it is stock except for the MM head button, MM HSN and MM 7mm venturie as mentioned in the link I posted. As you can understand, Being a MM driver I get to track test MM products and I just left them in to run them for a while. OH and removed a 0.1 head shim after 8 ltrs.
Yes I get easy 13min with stock gearing at my home track.
That is only my 2nd engine since driving for Mark (MG66X). my first engine (MG66) lasted 12 months wich gets use 3 times a month at club racing and also seen 4 major meets in that time.
Passed 40 ltrs throu it before changing the bearings and 62 ltrs throu it before the rod let go (the original rod) wich was left in on purpose as an experiment for MM to see the life of it without a rod change, is not recomended but was just an experiment.
Its MBX6T with a BCE chassis and yes I feel the double single double is the smoothest and fastest option but can't do it every lap is traffic coming up your rear or they will collect you so I needed to practice the other option a few times in that quallifier.

Hope that helps.

Yes, it helps alot. 13 minutes alone is worth it. That would save me alot of money in nitro. Many have to try one of these. Do they sell these in the US?

Yep, through Answer RC USA. See the banner graphic below.

Give the MG66X a go, you won't be disappointed.
