This is just my opinion but your still to fat. This is how I do it. These motors are really not that hard to break in. The first thing you want to do is no plug in it heat it up to 200-220 and set it on the box ,3-4 5 sec spins and about 70 percent of your pinch is gone. Then let it idle a tank at med high idle. Get it to stay stable at 220. Let it cool down to about a 100 fire it back up toss it on the ground and run a tank through it at 1/4 throttle. Let cool, and fire it back up run a tank through it at 1/2 throttle. On the fourth tank, toss it on the ground and start going 3/4 to full throttle in short burst. You may have to lean your HSN some to keep it from dying. After this tank you will notice you have eliminated almost all the pinch and have tons of compression. Then take it to the track and start putting a tune on it. Buy the 6th or 7th tank about a half gallon it should almost be there and ready for a full race tune. Full race tune depending on weather and climate should be anywhere between 240 and 270......

yeah i did pretty much that for break in basically. other than the plug out and spin it. Break in was very easy and good. I haven't ran nitro in a while now because rain so i can't tune it but im running it a little fat because the track im at i dont need all the power.

yes sir it will. thats actually what mine came off of. i had 2 of those, one stock and one mod and the mod one blew so i took the whole high speed needle off. its the only one i found that has the same thread pattern in the carb. just set needle at flush and lean from there, the Nova one isnt as long as the Alpha one, my Alpha one broke fairly easy.

i've just pulled the trigger on an XPE (hard to resist for £106 - £54 off list price). I already have the DYN 053 pipe and the 086 as well as 9901 nova. Which pipe do you think will work best and how does this engine like to be tuned (bottom first with a rich top or a lean top and rich bottom)
Also as regards shimming for 30% - i read the alpha review but it sort of confused me

What would you guys recommend (i run OD 97T plugs in all my motors) as the correct shimming.

Yes measure temp at head. I do it dry,as usally in a new motor there is already some type of oil in there. Or you can take the back plate off and clean it out with some fresh fuel.....
