what are the benefit/downside using 4 shoes contra 3 shoes?

i spent the last to days reading to much in rctech forums.Did read a lot of threads and google it.
This quastion remain unanswered.

I have two arrows and one novarossi btt for my xb9.

Did already order the buku clutch.Like the posibility to adjust the spring tension
without taking out the engin..
But this is a 3 shoe clutch.

I am also considering to by a werks 4 shoe clutch since i have 3 engins.
So it is ready to run,and i can try out the benefits.

someone have a corect theory or personal experience?

Yes I know but exactly what grade of material they are made of should not matter to someone using them.

Why the secrecy and it does matter to me. Ascendancy lists their shoes as 7075. If your shoes are softer, I don't want them. Simple.

In my opinion, 3-shoes are a pain in the rear to change out springs/shoes. I have all the clutch changing tools and I still find it horrible. The two 4-shoes I've had (Losi and Werks) are EASY days to change.

Now, there will be folks that will say they are super pro's at changing 3-shoes and changeability should not even be an issue. However, I am not one of those people and the convenience of the 4-shoe is what made me upgrade.

As far as performance, I can give you a better idea this weekend. I am going from the Kyosho 3-shoe to the Werks 4-shoe.

they are 3 shoe clutches with the same design as the 4 shoe so that shouldn't be an issue.. as it involves the same procedure..

that being said.. 4 shoes give you more adjustability with even wear when running t2 different clutch springs.. makes it more constant throughout the life of the shoes.. thats my findings

Ok, I hear the same thing from people regarding our fuel and oil percentage.

Hey bro,

Update me too, I've already have those Werks clutch system in my shopping cart but amain is out of stock for the medium one (Ron anyway for me to purchase them directly or something, can't wait to get my hand on those clutches?), so got to wait for it to be available before I click on the check out button  I'm getting the light, medium and heavy.

Oh tell me about taking out those clutch shoes, especially right after a run during race! Just crazy! I'm investing in a clutch system that make my life easier and those conventional one don't

I agree. 3 shoe of this kind is a pain. But worst is the time it takes.
But when it comes to even wear in this case that is not a topic for the buku clutch. Or any clutch. You can adjust the spring tension after how u prefer it. And as I understand it you do not want it to wear even. How do you do that when the purpose and benefit of this buku is to have different tension to the spring? Yes you can have same tension on all. Or in werks place 2+2 of the same. But on the works for the 4 shoes to end up with same wear u will need to take out the shoes and change the spring. Not difficult but the engine need to be out.
On the buku the engine can stay in the car and u adjust it with a wrench. So the soft spring will be hard and the hard will be soft. If u understand.

So I think it end up with personal experience.

Just to update my experience with Werks clutch. I run them during my club race without any prior testing. Was a bit worried but somehow I'm confident it's going to work. Ran the medium clutch on OS ZX-B engine and it sure does feel good. Didn't managed to try the light and heavy one though and since its a race, not a right time to test.

Overall, I'm very happy with this clutch, feels good and the pickup feel and sound smooth. Installation is super easy and everything fall in place nicely.

Does Werks make 36 mm flywheels for the pro clutch? I recently bought two clutches for my old car which was 34 mm. And they will not work with my new durango's.

Werks clutch system works for me. Maybe a softer spring will help coz the green springs that came with it is a little to hard for some of my engines.( reds, b2and speed) balloons the my tires on input. Lol
