I ran a Nova 21-4C in my Losi and Mugen with a Losi clutch in both (steel flywheel with 2 aluminum shoes with green springs and 2 carbon shoes with black spring). Easily pits in 10 minutes, and felt great.

Now I am running the same engine in a Kyosho tki3 and am using the stock 3 shoe clutch (3 silver aluminum shoes with 1.0 springs). The feel is good, but I am getting 45 seconds to a minute less runtime than what I was getting. I don't think there is much of a difference in fuel capacity in the tank and lines, so my guess is that a heavier flywheel and 4 shoe clutch makes a big difference in runtimes.

So I am looking at a 32mm clutch system for my tki3 and I think I will go with a Werks system. What would be closest to the Losi setup I was running? Do you think switching clutches will give me my runtime back? Thanks.

Everything makes a difference when you start looking at run times. In your case I'd if you liked the heavy Losi I'd start off with a medium weight 32mm system. The additional contact surface of the 4 shoe system is going to reduce slip which is what is causing the loss in run time.

does the OFNA vented clutch bell fit on this decently?

How do you know when it is time to replace the shoes on this clutch.

The shoes do last a fair bit, but how do you know when they are too worn out?

When your clutch feels like it is slipping or the engagement point is higher. Those are tells that it's time for new shoes!

Will the 34 mm flywheel work on the Durango DNX408t? I think the stock is 36 mm.

We actully make a 36mm version for the Durango. The part number for it is WRX6558.

I just recently picked a med. 34mm clutch and noticed there was a change in the shoe retainer. Am I right in thinking the second set of holes are for adjusting spring tension without changing springs, hence a finer adjustment than spring change.
