I've got the 4-shoe Werks setup if I can make it work on my mugen.
The Werk's should hold it... tho it will really depend on how much traction/load is placed on the clutch...

I am partial to the factory mugen 3 shoe with the std shoes. Engagement speed is nice and wear is pretty well controlled.

Plus I have parts

If you are considering the mugen clutch setup with a clocked .25, uh good luck. Melt down! My answer shoes held up ok with my clocked B5 but locked up too soon and stiffer springs would've caused a melt down. A phone call to Neal and you'll know what you need for the whole package. The .25 is a billy badass for sure but i'm not sure if i can drive it well. The clocked B5 is the perfect truggy engine in my opinion.

I'm trying to get a feel for setup.

Slip causes heat. Higher stall is for certain going to cause issues so clearly larger than 1.0's are problematic. I guess I'd need to see the shoe surface area to determine 3 vs 4 for true engagement area. I know Danny runs the 25 and uses the stock mugen 3 shoe with 1.0's and doesn't seem to have much for issues.

I can see if your running on grass where traction is serious but in the dirt, I'll assume you don't generate the same amount of heat....

I've kicked around the notion of getting the clocked .25 for a 2nd truggy engine. I just can't imagine needing or being able to use more than the B5 Neal did for me. Did i mention the worse fuel mileage track we have i can still get 12+ min a tank with it. Power, within 4 tanks it knocked out both sets of ring and pinions. But i still am a fan of OS engines so the .25 is still an option for sure.

Well after shooting that video, I have decided to start charging Neal for aggravated assault each time he makes me fire that thing up. My 6T is in desperate need of a rebuild now....nick, u there?

The thing that's most appealing to me about the 25 is its linear power application. Its big power but not violent. Provided one can be smooth with the power application, I feel it can be driven fast.

I'm coming from racing brushless so while the 25 makes a lot of power, its not in the same league for pure output. I just prefer the involvement associated with nitro. We'll see how she powers the mugen. I've got both clutches so we'll see which holds what.

I agree, there were a few times while it was 'in a wheelie' where feathering the throttle in the wheelie seemed very easy to do and was very controllable.

So john, did you get a chance to drive the 25? How do you think it compares to the B5/B6?

I really liked the power band on it. Midrange impressed me a lot. Just wish we had a track to test it out properly on, as our track is going through a huge reno right now.

The Clocked B5 is going to be a tough one to beat overall. Neal's planning a run on Wed. this week, maybe back to back video's?

Overall the mod B5 is tough to beat...its powerful, fast, consistent, very fuel efficient and also very reliable and durable....Overall its likely as fine of a Truggy engine as one is going to find...
