Thanks Neal,
I am an RC airplane guy and have never had to replace bearings after 2 gallons on my 15+ airplane engines. Also 16 years ago, I had an old Picco (that I still have) that must have had 8 to 10 gallons before I tore it apart and the bearing was still in much better shape then the one in my P5 after only 1.5 gallons?
Just seems odd to me.

I found my problem...When pulling apart the old bearing, I created small burrs on the inside of the crank case. I cleaned the ones on the side where the rear bearing sits but not the one in the crankshaft hole.
So when I put the crank back in, it was rubbing slightly on those burrs, giving me the impression that the new bearing was scrap!!!

I feel like such a diouuush bag:cry:

I bet if you flew your airplane engines through a dirt/dust storm at 40k RPM you'd get less than 10 gallons on it before replacing the bearings ;).

Off road car engines take ridiculous amount of abuse compared to plane engines. Having said that 2 gallons is a bit soon.

Hey thinking of going from the clocked p5 to the clocked Roma. I know it will have more power for my truggy. But how is the mileage?

with the Mizer inserts it will be awesome on fuel.....10 minute pits should be no issue.

i run a 9886/41001 or a 9853/41001 ...both run awesome............. then I will run a 086...which is similar to the 9886, but more abrupt, on/off...........The JP2 probably would work good.......2058 works good.......2013 would lose some top end, but would have balls for days........never tried a RE12..so cannot comment...but if its the one thats a copy of a 9901 it may work really well on a Nova 41001 manifold

The re12 is the copy of the 9901. I was really impressed with it on my sons stock p5s tons of power but really smooth. And usable.

Thanks! Guess I'll get started with the orange one when I receive them and then try the medium one.

Great video!

What were you using to check the idle gap? Are those just paper clips?

JJ

I purchased BHP blue steel rod in 0.7mm, 0.6mm, 0.5mm a long time ago and just use the 0.5mm to set my idle gap for racing and the 0.7mm when breaking in a new engine, wish I knew then that I was going to need a 0.4mm one
