Neal i have a b5 that had a bearing that go out. do you modify used engines. both front and rear bearings need to be replaced. psr look ok. looks like i can put bearings and be fine but i like the positive things that i hear about your mod b5. and id like to get one but rather do it to the one i have.

I would not want to modify an engine that has had that much use on it...much of my modifications involve the piston and on an engine with that much use I would likely have to pinch the sleeve to ensure we get a good seal afterward...I alter the deck height of my engine and the position of the piston at TDC will change after modifications....So my concern is that if the engine is already broken in at the stock deck height it may not seal correctly at the altered deck height....When its brand new the piston will seat itself to the modified deck height with no issue...I would be willing to pinch the engine and modify it, but your dollar would be better spent on a brand new fresh engine...

Thanks, I'll give that a try and let ya know how it feels

I added weights to mine in my truggy a few weeks back and it definitely smoothend the bottom end but it also still impressed us. I think you will like the outcome, please do let us know how it goes. Tonight, with weights out, it was back to doing wheelies down the straight away again.:sneaky:

I now have one flywheel with the weights and another without the weights for quick changeover :)

Its different...its very very fast in the mid and top, but doesn't have the bottom of the B5...Just a characteristic of the engines in general.....In a Buggy the mod Ninja is absolutely ballistic...

!!!!!

You are crazy bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. In a good way. I have never seen someone so passionate about engines. I like coming across people that have so much enthusiasm and truly believe in a particular item.

Great Job Neal.

Hey Neal. I think Ill send you the O'donnell .21ss I just ordered it from Tower. And got some TKO Ceramics on the way for it too. If I send them with the motor would you mind putting them in? Please PM me with a link to all the info I need to send this motor to you and what all you would need from me. Feel free to take your time with it I know you havent done alot of work on these since they arent the most popular of motors. Well look forward to hearing from you.

ceramics will help and engine rev a little better in the upper end...they are not needed, but a very popular option...

Depends on 1,the motor you buy 2,what you plan to be doing with it 3,and your cash flow.

1. some motors have poor bearings from the get go (i am pretty sure all the motors Neal stocks you will be safe with though) so it can be a good upgade.

2. If you plan on bashing down the park there is prob no need, but it still would not hurt.

3. if you dont have the cash its not a big deal if you dont have them.

I run ceramics in all my race engines (just my personal choice) i find the motors spool a little faster and rev a little harder with them. Its not a huge difference from what i have found but it is there.

Ceramic or not you will love your clocked mill!!!!!

However there are some things to be considered with modified engines...
- they rev harder, faster and higher then stock engines do....so if you tune it lean, damage can happen faster
- because they have more power and RPM they can be over revved easier.
- If you abuse the modified engine, damage can happen faster
- tuning and setup do become a little more critical..these are legitimately modified engines, they do make substantially more output then the stock version...Any time you increase the output of an engine the sensitivity to setup and conditions does increase...However once setup and tuned correctly they will run much sweeter then the stock counterpart will..you will not only see a difference, you will also feel it in your trigger as well hear it in the exhaust note...the modified engines flat out scream !

Thanks Maximo!

I am pretty sure I can make any engine scream..but right now I have very limited experience with onroad engines...However they are in my sights and I will be looking towards testing the waters with a few onroad mills soon.... What do you currently run ?
