In truggy i use the shoes it comes with (reg med) and all 1.0 springs. Don't use any setscrews unless all else fails, lol. If traction is limited then change 2 if the springs to .95's.

Why don't you like the weighted flywheel?

hambone 05-09-2011 05:51 AM

It's not necessary on clocked B5. Engine has very good manners.

i had the weights on for like 2 tanks and then off they came. It's a very powerful engine but also has a smooth powerband, It really shines after that first step, then it is like tomahawk missile:D

Neal, I had some interesting things go on durring Saturday's race. First off, I had a way lean condition durring the first heat. By the time I pulled off the track, I temped kind of high (350). OUch. I let the engine cool naturaly and put the piston at BDC. After she cooled, I cranked it by hand and the compresion still felt good. I resealed the motor and replace my fuel lines and glow plug ( the last 2 coils were melted) and headed out for my second heat. About 5 minutes in, she got a lean bog again. this time I finished my heat being very care full on the throttle and came off at 280. So for the 3rd heat, I put in the back up and she did the same thing. came off at 260. So for the B-Main I put a new fuel tank in and put the B5 back in. I fired it up and ran for 8 minutes of practice. Engine felt strong as usual and temped at 220. I got her fixed and she was ready to go. I started mid pack in the B and had quite a few run ins with some slower cars and really was learning the track all over again now that the motor ran good. At the 5 minute mark of the 15 minute B, I was running 11th out of 12 cars. I pitted at 8 minutes and was running in 5th. I kept my cool and was hitting my lines. I needed to get to 3rd for the bump. he was about 3/4 a lap ahead of me. I stayed smooth and next thing I know I was in second chasing down first. Time ran out and I made the bump. In the A, It was the same story. This time it was a little harder to chase people down, but I found myself running a fast pace and had zero troubles with my motor. Mother nature decided to bless us with a little traction and everyone started to get faster. I ended up 9th out of 15 cars. Not bad because the entire a main was full of extreamly fast guys. I will let you know how the motor looks on the inside when I pull it apart later today. I think she will be ok, it ran great for the 45 minutes after the air leak/ lean bog got taken care of.

Losi 8T 2.0. Wierd thing tho, I just put that tank in about 8 race days ago. I must have flat landed a jump wierd in the first heat or something. Maybe justa fluke in production. Who knows. The good thing is, the internals look to be ok. No wierd heat spots that I can see and the pinch at TDC feels about thet same. I am thinking of putting a small spacer under the tank stand offs to raise it a touch. With all the chassi flex built into the things now a days it could possibly prevent this from happening again.

Agree ! Losi tanks are usually rock solid for the most part...

neobart 05-09-2011 10:14 AM

+2

The only tank I've ever had fail on me was when a front bearing in the bell fell apart, allowing the bell to grind a hole in the tank.
