4 shoe harness the power much better...these engines tend to slip the 3 shoe setups...The Werk's pipes are really the only way to go IMO.....

I might need a 6 shoe for the OS 25, lol.

OK Neal, here is a race report on 2 April from Thunder alley in Wilson NC.

Morning outside temp was between 50 and 55. MId after noon durring second qual was about 60 and about 7pm when the mains ran it was back in the lower 50's. Track was tight, technical and tons of traction with the weeks rain soaked into the clay. AKA Cityblocks were the Spec tire for this race. Quals were 6 minutes and the A would be 20 minutes.

Durring practice the B5 was still running pretty rich. Low end seemed pretty close to tune but top end was gurggling and sputtering on the straight. It was a tight slow track with lots of little short straights and just about every jump section was right out of a corner. I ended up putting in a P3 plug ( used a P4 for breakin and 1/2 of practice). It really woke up the motor but it was still rich. I leaned it a couple hours and ran about 3 laps, pulled in and checked it. Idle was good, bottom was snappy but top was still a tad rich with temps only at 200. I leaned it another 2 hours, ran about 3 laps and pulled in a gain. This time idle lowered a little so I raised it a tad and I felt like I lost some of the snappy bottom so I richened it 1 hour. Top was getting better. It actualy started to scream but I still felt it was to rich. Temps this time were just above 200. Practice was over then.

So durring warm up of the first qual, after I made all the changes in practice, I fetl the motor was running good. 5 minutes of warm up and she was at 200 in temp. Idle was smooth and didnt change, bottom was snappy like before and top felt pretty good. I left it alone and ran the first qual. I ran 2nd at a 11 lap 6:22 coning in 2nd.

Second qual I made a few chassis adjustments ( droop and preload) to get rid of some of the push. I also leaned the top out 2 more hours. I felt like I was running better durring the second qual, but the timing computer failed and we had to start overt again. I checked the temp afte the first run. 210. feeling good all around. So we started to re run our 2nd qual and again I felt faster. I ended up 2nd again to the same guy but dropped about 7 seconds on my qual. 11 lap 6:15. I was ready for the main.

After several more computer failures, we finally got to run our main at about 7:15pm. It was 20 minutes. I didnt want to push for a 10 minute pit so I oppter for a safe 8 minutes. Car was cleaned off, air filter was good and off we went. I qualed in 2nd. In the first corner, the TQ bobbled and I had to check up. This cause the number 3 guy to punt me and I got up sidedown. So after the first lap I was 13th. I slowly started to make my way thru the field 1 car here 2 cars there and about the 5 minute mark I was running in fourth. By this time there were cars everywhere on the track. You really had to pick your lines and be patient to get around other cars. I moved into 3rd and was almost a lap down to him. I saw him com into the pits at about the 7 minute mark, and hammer down while he was in to make up some time. I ran 2 more laps and the pitted. My pit guy was fast and got me out in a hurry. Now I was only about 17 secons back (1/2 lap) I kept pushing hard and closed to about 5 seconds back. At the 14 minute mark, 2nd came in again and I felt I could get passed him if I pitted soon. I came in again 2 laps later. Again another fast pit stop, but as I exited there were 4 cars coming down the front staright so I stayed a little wide. One of them was the guy I was balltling with for 2nd place. One guy ended up pushing wide and collected me. we got hooked and couldnt get free. Now I was on a mission. I was 10 seconds back with about 4 minutes to go. I was running about 1/2 second faster than 2nd place and new I had to drived harder but stay clean and on the wheels. 20 seconds to go I was only 4 seconds back. We came down the front stretch and he bobbled. I was about 10ft behind him. As we went thru the rythum section and some tight corners, we stayed about the same distance. As we crossed the loop, he made it by at 19:59:499 and I was finished at 20:00:568. It would have been an epic battle on the last lap for second. But I ended 3rd.
All and all it was a good day. Never once felt the motor was not able to produce what I needed. Never had to chase the tune, never had a flame out. Thanks for making a great product. I deffinetly will be using this motor till she blows up.

Hello everyone my name is Andy Piceno I am one of the newest additions to Team Clockwork Racing Engines. I am racing out of Phoenix Arizona my home track is the World Famus Nitro Pit I am also the former track manager and still take part in making sure all of our club, national, and world events run smooth. I received my first engine from Neal about 2 weeks ago it's a werks B5 clocked and the 2058 pipe. I ran this engine in my buggy mbx6 for our club race yesterday and had no problems what so ever plus taking the win in our buggy class first time out with Neal beast. The engine ran very very smooth with lots of power It's still under a gallon so cant't wait till it drops it's nizzuts. More info to come

Finally got on the track today after hibernating for the winter. Was able to get my newer B5 tuned up properly. Man is that thing nasty! What a great engine/pipe/fuel combo. It definitely had the field covered power and mileage wise. Great mods Neal.

Thanks. Didnt mean to forget about you. Thanks guys for making such a great product. With all the stuff going thru a racers mind durring a warm up and the race, its nice to know you have a motor that is consistant and up to the rigorous beating these little machines go thru. Its one less thing you have to worry about.

I finally got to race a Clocked engine this weekend. JL .21, I had picked it u used from a Terribles member. That thing is off the chain insane.. I had it in buggy because every one talked about how smooth they were, and they are, but the initial snap made it a bit tough for me to drive, on the tight in-door course. I look forward to getting it out doors so I can open it up..

Yes...those little JL .21's are rippers !!! just take a little clutch spring out of it and it should tame down the bottom.... or you can go up 1 tooth on the clutch, it has the juice to pull a little extra gearing...what pipe did you run on it ?

i have found going lighter on the springs yielded better results than going up on clutchbell size... you get longer lasting clutch and a tad bit better runtimes when doing so... if you running 4 shoe... 2.9 springs with carbon shoes and 2 1.0 springs with aluminum shoes will work... this is with the werks clutch.. if you were using aluminum shoes before start with a fresh clutchbell on this setup for maximum clutch life... i have used this setup on my JL and it works great... but i don't like to much punch in my engines and this was on a big out door track.... so not sure how it would work on an indoor track... but that is the setup i use on all my engines no matter the track

Jp-3 the Bad boy of JP pipes.. I won't blame the engine for the loose rear end, because I never could get it where it needed to be. I'm gonna have to change a few thign on suspension. I slightly lighter clutch will help I am sure..

BTW I temped engine after my 8 minute C-main and it was only 190 degrees.. I am amazed at it's power potential.. When I get the buggy dialed I'll be hard to beat with tis kind of power..

Illbreakthat 04-04-2011 09:03 PM

Yes we do! Most parking lots and main drags but the track is still under a couple of feet of snow. If the weather stays the way it is we should see track by the end of April to the begining of May.
