what kind of plug u using?

Picco plug the Ofna version hot. Also looking at the taper is not exactly seating all the way around. I know there are some turbo plugs where the taper is at different angle.

I'm not new to r/c :D

I had a boost doing that too...plus was leaking, a plug that normally seals very good...

Just trying to help not saying your new to r/c but what i was trying to get at is that I use the OD plug and you have to tighten them up good because i had the same problem thats all.

You may want to get rid of the chip!

The boost only seams to like the P5TH & P6TH the 5 being the Hot and 6 being Medium hot... We had put 5ltrs plus run in on our first plug normally the OS plug would have given up long before that....... Both Plugs can be found here

I've been using the OD97T and it's been really good, I started with the OD77T but it was flaming out during break in.

At least I'm not the only one. I like the idea of cranking the glow plug in hard but it stopped the problem so it seems. I had it leak out the front bearing having it rpm hang then drop down to idle. I fixed that problem with double sealed bearing.

Picco Boost

I try Picco Bosst Yesterday, very good power band, 10 minuts very easy.

I try in Agama car, with P3 glow plug, 20% nitro, pipe 2046, very easy tuned, idle is perfect .
Very Good Combo

arm2storm 09-14-2010 09:41 AM

I have about a gallon through it, two club races and a State series. if I may say it's an awsome motor....it idles for ever, very smooth power band great bottom and mid power...lacks a little top but can easily be fixed with a different pipe. I'm very pleased with the Boost, need to get me an other for the truggy.

blade954 09-14-2010 05:03 PM

Gents Picco BOOST likes 25% Go-Tech 2072 Pipe and 6TH Picco plug, The Go tech pipe really lets the Picco breathe we also tryed it on the Evo 4 5 port EDO Modified in the Truggy and when i turned to look up at the lad all i could see was  I hope weather pending i can get some footage this weekend of both as we are heading up to do some testing.....

Man, what a powerful engine. I used to run plus 21-4. THis engine has much more low end power

Well into the run in of the engine in the truggy with 6 1/2 litres through the engine ready for some buggy action, will be starting to get some track time in the buggy next week end but up till now have seen 10 minute tanks no problem in the truggy but with a smaller tank in the buggy time will tell....

-R2- 09-27-2010 02:30 PM

Well I got a Picco Boost engine and went to Revelation yesterday to get it in tune for next week JBRl event and with the temps being 100+ at Rev. would be good to size the engine up for those extreme conditions. Jammed in our med temp turbo plug and put it on the track. It's running really good and on the conservative side because of the heat did not want to harm the engine. I got some good runs and great idle setting and purred so well even upside down on occasion. The big hurdle was the mega quad 45footer which i geared my Hyper 9 to 14 and is clearing without problems, the acceleration on the Boost is nice a smooth and as grunty as my EVO3 which can put down a nice amount of power out of the corner, so i can't wait to run and see where I end up on Sat.

gnccracer 09-30-2010 07:22 AM

Can you run the standard Ofna turbo plugs or do you need to run the Ofna Picco plugs?

I'm running Ofna turbo plugs, med temp. 51014 I also have hots 51013 but have not used one in the Boost.

Just thought I would throw some of the stuff I have learned with the motor out there. The stock pipe is pretty good down low, however I bent both of the ones I have. I tried an O.S. 2060 and it really killed the power. I'm going to try a JP4 this weekend. I also run a Picco Turbo #6 plug, seems to run well for me. I'm a hammer on the throttle so I never get good fuel mileage, but I get about 8:30 out of the boost with the stock pipe combo. I would only get 7:30 out of a JX, so theres something to be said about that I suppose.

Very smooth responce if your putting it in a truggy then I would try a heavy spring clutch set-up so that it can build some rpm before engaging. And go with the 7mm restrictor.

The motor has been great. You will have no issue with it pushing your truggy around, I geared up two teeth in my buggy.

Its not a truggy engine, plan and simple you would be much better off with the picco 21 which is designed for a truggy.

I have had it in both my hot bodies d8 & d8t and it has good rev range down low in a truggy but even geared up one tooth on the clutch bell it cant keep up with a truggy designed motor, it will run nice and produce good power but just not enough to finish on a podium.....thats my 0.02 cents worth.

blade954 10-18-2010 02:23 AM

Hey mark, Well when i asked you again delivered we were happy with the Boost the engine had every thing from bottom to top and so smooth and crisp. Jaicob loved it... And we still had great run time.....

itbvolks 10-18-2010 06:25 AM

Anyone happen to have a complete boost carb they'd like to sell?

Looking for something to go into my older Picco XP. :sneaky:

didnt you just post on the last page about getting like 10min in a truggy with it?

t8rtot 11-24-2010 01:16 AM

Just because its putting up good runtimes doesn't mean its pulling like other motors

b-man777 11-25-2010 08:51 AM

Hey all: didn't take time to read every post so I'll ask here. What is the difference between the .21 boost and the .21 evo4 and are are both equally suited for racing? Finally are dynamite race engines still picco based? Thanks :spidey:

t8rtot 11-25-2010 09:18 AM

Cannot say the difference between the Boost and Evo4 but I believe Dynamite engines are SH and and the 5pt Euro is a GO engine

avelinferr 12-12-2010 04:51 AM

what you say guys to do a choice between picco boost and o.s. xz-b max?

o.s. xz-b max or picco boost?

Regards

Choices

Hello guys, great forum! After much reading its obvious you guys are pro at this. I want to repower my 9.5 MBX with some quality power and with my limited knowledge have a few engines in mind. The Boost is an amazing $199 complete with a pipe and header so its almost top of my list. So here goes:

Picco Boost set $199

Novarossi Plus 21-5 $250 - ?pipe?

O.S. 21VZ-B V-Spec #13895 $240
T-2050 Tuned Pipe $140 }almost $400! I could buy two boosts!

any other suggestions would be great, thanks

lucasand 01-17-2011 03:29 PM

Hello guys, I´m new here, my name is lucas, and i´m from brazil.

I really want to buy a agama A8 and here is the only where i find informations about the car becouse in brazil none has this car yet, i think i will be the first one :)...

I have already bought this picco boost engine, and i was searching which glow plug i should use, and i saw that u guys are using turbo plugs, but at OFNA´s web site they say that the picco boost uses standard plugs....

have a look here: ofna.com/picco-boost.php

so, are they wrong?!?

Thanks.
Lucas.
