What?? Is that for a ceramic bearing??

Ouch..

I think I'm going to run the LSK and try to find a cheaper bearing.

I need to purchase too many bearings at the moment. Too many motors

to rebuild.

AXE ROSSI
 
I HAVE BEEN AXE ROSSI ENGINES FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS
AND HAVE HAD ONE MAJOR RECURRING PROBLEM.... THE CONNECTING ROD

THE BRASS BUSHING BREAKS/EXPLODES/SHATTERS, ETC. THE ALUM CON ROD IS STILL IN GOOD SHAPE JUST THE BUSHING FALLS APART

THIS HAS DAMAGED SEVERAL NEW PISTON AND SLEEVE KITS I HAVE PURCHASED I GET ABOUT 3 TO 4 GALLONS OUT OF THE ROD BEFORE THIS HAPPENS
I HAVE TRIED BREAKING IN THE ENGINE AND INSTALLING A NEW ROD BUT IT DOES THE SAME THING

I LOVE MY AXE ROSSI BLACK MAGIC AND WILL RUN IT UNTELL IT WILL NO LONGER TAKE NEW PISTON AND SLEEVE KITS BUT IT HAS BEEN GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE

I OWN 3 BLACK MAGICS, 3 GOLDEN ARROWS, 2 MOMBAS , 1 COBRA, 1 LSK,

Thank you sir, I have been looking at the cobrax2 for a little while now, I will give her a try for my next engine. Sound like some of the problems stated sound very similiar to rushing a break in a bit, those beginning runs of break in are crucial, I have noticed the Axe engines a VERY tight, getting them up to 200-210 is what I do on all engines that are so much tighter then some of them out there. My Novas are much tighter then os engines to start and break them in a little different, I broke the axe sport as I do my novas, after 5+ gallons the front bearing needs replacing, the head has a broken fin but internally it is perfect to this day, poor girl sits in a bag lubed and at rest, I am going to find out what heads fit and get a used on and use it as a practice engine.

i dont rush break in i preheat all my engines i run novarossi, RB, LRP, ETC
this is the only engine brand that i use that has connectiong rod issues
the rod issues have been around a long time with axe rossi engines.

i did not have the problem with the original black magic and golden arrows
i have bought new "old" surplus just the new replacement p/s kits and rods

NOT SAYING THAT THEY ARE A BAD ENGINE i just feel they need to take a closer look at the rod maybe casting issues or binding issues with the brass and aluminum

every thing else on the engines are perfect
i think they are the best engines i have ever run:nod:

Sorry dude did not mean to offend at all. But I am also sorry I did not be more specific, but it is not just the connecting rod that takes a pounding, the rear bearing is also vert tight and requires some careful running before to much "rpm" is put on them as they will skate or groove the race, all it takes is ityy bitty imperfection on the race at high rpm to wreak havok on the crank and or case, our engines today are twisting some crazy rpms at the size they are .21 they spin what we use to spin tee dee .049 engines. Also when you twist them up when the engine is still tight, well the crankcase gets hot spots as well because the bearing is over heating as well breaking down the balls and or race of the rear bearing, which can also cause rod failure in some cases as the internals become out of alignment. It is so important to heat up todays engines, but a little to hot does as much damage as to cold, just not as critical.

Have you tryed the NEW Rod that Axe Rossi Just came out with in the Last 6 months?

The New Rod in MUCH better then the old Rod Axe Rossi was Using and i have 2 of them that have 4 gallons on them and going STRONG.


As i have said on here a lot i am an AXE ROSSI DEALER and can make you a GREAT deal on Parts.

Hey Blackmagic21, Please post pics for the Golden Arrow motor.

I haven't seen one of those in a long time.

Dang.. I really like the early Rossi engines.

I have notice the connecting rods on my Black Magic has started to have

the same issue where the rod is good, but, the brass pressed in insert at the

bottom has started to come out. I too plan to keep my LSK, Black Magic

(Wanted to keep the Mamba, but, it's crap now) I think I have a few spare rods

2 piston/sleeves for each motor and that's it. I'm done with them. They will

become paper weights.

When I'm done with them, I can say they were good til the last drop.

Go competition Pro conrod
 
... you might try a Go competition Pro conrod for the Cobra X2. They are way cheaper and will not wear out the brushing like the Axe rods do.(both new and old model.)
If you use it in the Mamba X1, you have to grind a little to make it fit with the piston top.
The Novarossie R7 will also fit.

The NEW ROD IS NOT WEAK the Old Rod was the one that had all the problems the New Rod is just as good as the R7 i have run them both and the NEW Rod will Last just as long. Have Any of you TRYED the New Rod if you have not got an Axe Rossi motor in the Last 6 months you have not had the NEW Rod so how can you say its Weak.
